STACK 2024 Day 1 - Bonus Material
We arrived at 0830 on Wednesday the 6th of October to the Smart Nation Singapore #STACK2024 GovTech Singapore Developer Conference themed "A thriving digital future for all".
While we waited for the speeches to start we had the opportunity to walk around the booths. If you want to jump straight to the main event click here: STACK 2024 DAY 1 MORNING (PART 1)
From the outset it was good to see #GovWallet (also used by Health Promotion Board 's H365 app according to Dr Puthucheary) were powering the conference, demonstrating how GovTech are drinking their own champagne allowing attendees to register for the event, earn points by playing games, providing feedback and signing up for presentations using technology enabled by GovWallet.
First up was learning about the Central Privacy Toolkit (Cloak), an anonymisation tool for Whole of Government (WOG) which showed impressive results when benchmarked with PIIranha to anonymise, names, addresses, phone numbers and other sensitive information. Thanks Judy Hong and Zul Yang for a great demo and sharing more on the product. There is an API available which we were keen to try out as soon as possible.
Secondly we spoke with Amelia Lee at #GovText, the amazing product built by a lean team of
supporting, amongst other services, the OneService app by Ministry of National Development Singapore 's (MND) Municipal Services Office (MSO).
It was immensely insightful to learn how classification for images, text and locations is performed across 20-classes (agencies) who are most likely able to address queries from members of the public.
Their demo was detailed and went a long way (concisely!) to explain the magic behind the app. What was also insightful was how content classification and review is performed by the service agents rather than in-team content analysts.
Lean team with strong results!
We next went to visit Jun Jie Pang and Jun Wei Koh at the DataHive booth. DataHive is a data exchange platform where a number of agencies such as Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) or Ministry of Finance (Singapore) can upload data to a secure, performant and common data platform where their requests are fulfilled for other agencies.
The submitter can track fulfillment requests on their submitted data too! This will improve quality and completeness of data over time.
Finally, just before the opening speech by SMS Dr Janil Putucheary at 1015, Nicholas Yeo and Yun Rong Seow us some of the WOGAA features which our team are not currently using. For example;
We also learnt about two up and coming products, SmartCompose and SearchSG. Excited to find out more!
And that's a wrap!
