Stop Perfection…Start Taking Imperfect Action

Stop Perfection…Start Taking Imperfect Action

Here’s a tough truth: perfectionism is the enemy of progress. How many times have you held back from starting something because you weren’t sure you could do it perfectly? Maybe it’s launching a business, writing that book, or learning a new skill.  Or maybe you have stopped trying to master a skill, like getting client referrals, because you have failed too many times with “no, I can’t think of anyone” or “I don’t give referrals” or “let me call them first.”

The problem is, waiting for perfection often leads to paralysis. We tell ourselves, "I’ll act when I’m ready," but the longer we wait, the more we convince ourselves we’re not. We hide behind the need for more time, more information, more preparation—when in reality, what we need is more action.

Action doesn’t require perfection. It requires willingness. Willingness to take a risk, make a mistake, learn, and grow. In fact, every mistake you make brings you closer to mastery. The magic is in the doing, not in waiting until you’re "good enough."

What Happens When You Take That First Step?

So, what happens when you take that leap and dive into action? Suddenly, doors open that you never saw before. New opportunities arise. People start to notice your energy and drive. The universe seems to conspire in your favor.

Here’s a fun thought: Action is contagious. When you move, you inspire others around you to do the same. You become a magnet for opportunities, relationships, and success. It’s not luck—it’s the ripple effect of doing.

Think about it. Have you ever been around someone who’s constantly taking action, making things happen, and living life on their terms? It’s inspiring, isn’t it? You feel energized just being near them. That’s the magic of action—it ignites a spark not just in you, but in everyone around you.

Start Before You're Ready

One of my favorite quotes comes from Richard Branson: “If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes—and learn how to do it later.”

The magic of action lies in this exact mindset: start before you’re ready. You’ll never have all the answers or be 100% prepared, and that’s okay. The act of starting is what separates those who achieve their dreams from those who simply daydream.

The best part? Once you take that first step, you’ll realize that you’re more capable than you thought. You’ll figure it out along the way, and the momentum you gain will propel you further than you imagined.

When You Keep Falling Down…Seek Coaching

The key to mastery is learning from your mistakes when you fall down.  But too many individuals stop after falling down again and again.  They fail to seek a coach who can help them see their “blind spots” and coach them to mastery.  Mastery takes time, practice and a positive mindset because making mistakes and falling down is part of the journey.

The Takeaway

Here’s the bottom line: If you want to experience real magic in your life and business, you have to stop waiting for the perfect conditions and start taking action. Every day is an opportunity to make progress. It doesn’t have to be monumental—just intentional.

So, what have you been putting off? What small step can you take today to move closer to your goals? Start by doing one thing, no matter how small. Trust the process and watch how the magic unfolds.

The life you want, the success you crave—it’s all waiting for you on the other side of action.

Take The LeapToday

Don’t let another day go by without making progress. Whether it’s in your business, your personal life, or your relationships—the magic happens when you take action.
