Is streaming the death of cable like Amazon is the death of retail?

Is streaming the death of cable like Amazon is the death of retail?

I think so.

The CNBC morning shows have ads for blue chew pills instead of a BlackRock ETF, and now Comcast is considering spinning off its cable business.

For the last ten years, analysts have told us that you could add the drop in market cap at Macy's and Nordstrom to Amazon's market cap and they have been right.

More recently, Michael Ovitz spoke at the AllIn Summit and shared what he experienced with music streaming 30 years ago; here is his talk with the besties from AllIn. We think it is worth a listen/watch.

So, where is the market cap going with video streaming at scale?

How will you combine your tactical empathy and commercial teaching to thrive in this period of significant change?

What is your tactical empathy?

It is your ability to see what your customers need almost before they do because you have 100's of them and the customer is just one entity.

What is commercial teaching?

Hopefully, it is how you artfully share your insights with your customers to help remove the pain they are experiencing with your products and services.

You might as well be that person if you actually want to keep your customers.

The new tools are powerful and clunky, kind of like the image we made on OpenAI at the top of this post. We asked for a picture of a flat screen tv with a vacuum tube sucking out the content and spraying it into a cloud.

What we got was beautiful, fast, free, and wrong.

But it works for blog posts if it gets you to scan this article.

Call me if you want help improving your company's tactical empathy and commercial teaching processes. It starts with humor!
