-Strength for Today- "The Fullness of the Human Race." - Colossians 2: 8-11.
We have a society that works feverishly to preserve its future. Billions of dollars are spent working on answers to eliminate the “woes” of humanity. Politically, all the right words are congressionally placed, so that the people can be "governed by these laws.”
But no matter how “politically correct” a system might seem, or how clever “scientific understanding” might be, there’s nothing “within the power of man” to stop the inevitable destruction of the human race and the earth and the universe as we know it.
The Bible tells us how history is going to end. It’s going to end when the Lord Jesus returns, and the “entire heaven and earth as we know them will be uncreated,” and everything that has existed in this realm will “cease to exist” and be replaced by “the eternal state.” In the meanwhile, Satan is trying to get us to live in some fantasy world that we can “transcend our humanness,” but Satan can’t:
- Deliver eternal life and
- He can’t deliver godhood.
All he can do is “make our sin worse,” and make our “judgment more severe. Satan was able to make fierce people out of Adam and Eve, but after the “fall,” they stood “alienated, from God,” because no amount of “cunning evil” can ever obliviate “the judgment of God.” So, even today,” humanity with all of its effort to transcend itself, to somehow “commune with God,” and be lifted above its humanity can’t succeed, because outside of the “relm of salvation,”
that is only “wrought through Jesus Christ,” mankind is only “dust” dressed “religiously in a suit of flesh”
But listen, God is “omniscient.” Nothing escapes His knowledge. Hebrews 4:13 says, “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him.” So, to escape the “debilitating circumstance” symptom of sin” and get right down where the corruption really lies. It’s down in the depths of the nature of man.
God had to raise up a “standard” that couldn’t be tempted by sin. That “Standard is Jesus Christ,” who’s our “wisdom,” “righteousness,” “sanctification,” “redemption” and our “success.” He’s the only “gateway to the Father.” To this He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6,” and, “For unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins” - John 8:24.
Peter echoed these words, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” - Acts 4:12. Paul concurred, “There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…” - I Timothy 2:5. So, the united testimony of the New Testament is that no one can know God the Father except through the person of Jesus Christ.
