Strengthening Ties: GLA President’s Strategic Visit to Kazakhstan & Participation in SCO Business Forum

Ms. Grace Sun, President of the GLA Global Logistics Alliance and the Global Logistics Enterprises Federation (GLEF), recently embarked on a pivotal visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Business Forum meetings. This visit aimed to enhance regional connectivity and foster deeper collaboration within the SCO framework, marking a significant milestone in the realm of international logistics and trade.

The SCO, established in 2001 by China and Russia, is the world's largest regional organization by geographic scope and population, covering around 80% of Eurasia and 40% of the global population. Initially formed as the Shanghai Five in 1996, between the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, the organization has since expanded to include India, Pakistan, Iran, and Belarus, with several observer states and dialogue partners. This makes the SCO a formidable force in global geopolitics and economics, facilitating unprecedented opportunities for economic cooperation and security.

Ms. Grace Sun's visit commenced with a strategic meeting with Mr. Lesov Talgat, CEO of Kazlogistics, the transport union of Kazakhstan. This collaboration aims to build a modern international logistics system through resource sharing, technical cooperation, and business expansion. The meeting, witnessed by Mr. Chyngyz Sherniiazov, Head of the China-Eurasia Business Council, emphasized the need for a reliable supply chain management system to facilitate seamless trade between nations. The discussions focused on developing logistics infrastructure in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, enhancing cross-border logistics efficiency, and fostering technological innovation.

Following this, Ms. Grace Sun signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Mr. Kairat Sadvakassov, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Tourism Board. This landmark agreement aims to enhance international connectivity, foster synergistic cooperation in trade and logistics, and promote sustainable development across borders. At the signing ceremony, Mr. Sadvakassov extended a warm welcome to Ms. Grace Sun, emphasizing Kazakhstan's pivotal role as a crucial hub connecting the vast Eurasian continent. He invited global partners to discover Kazakhstan's rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, encouraging them to explore diverse opportunities for investment and collaboration.

Ms. Grace Sun highlighted the transformative potential of this cooperation in advancing global trade facilitation and logistics efficiency. She underscored GLA's dedication to leveraging its extensive network and cutting-edge technological capabilities to unlock new opportunities, drive innovation, and support sustainable development initiatives. The agreement places a strong focus on critical areas such as upgrading logistics infrastructure, optimizing cross-border logistics processes, promoting Kazakhstan's international tourism assets, and implementing smart and green logistics solutions.

Additionally, Ms. Sun held a strategic meeting with Dr. Karimsakov Murat, a Member of the Board Secretary General of the Presidium of Atameken, Kazakhstan. They explored investment opportunities in advanced logistics technologies and supply chain management systems, aiming to foster deeper cooperation in the international logistics sector. This meeting emphasized Kazakhstan's critical role in the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting regional economic integration between Central Asia and China. Ms. Grace Sun stressed that GLA's international network and resources would significantly strengthen Kazakhstan's trade and logistics connections with China and the broader Eurasian region.

Ms. Grace Sun's visit to Kazakhstan included her active participation in the SCO Business Forum.
