Stretching Your Faith

Stretching Your Faith

Do you know that God created you for a purpose, to achieve a purpose and that He has a plan for your days? Knowing this to be true, we should approach our work with enthusiasm; however, that is not always the case is it?

Some days it is so hard for you to get out of bed. You drag yourself out from between the sheets with a sigh and an inward feeling of frustration. You log into LinkedIn and notice your friends are living passionate, engaged, meaningful lives. They have rewarding jobs and a sense of direction that compels them to hop out of bed each morning with a spring in their step.

Maybe you don’t love what you are going to have to do to make a dollar today, but you have the opportunity to make one, and that is worth celebrating.

If you are not 100 percent satisfied with your business or the type of work you do, you can still kick off the year with an attitude of grateful appreciation.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Whatever you do, do not grumble and groan about it. Why? Because the words you speak matter. Proverbs 18:21 says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” If you are going to talk about your business, industry, or job, shouldn’t you speak positive words about it?

Here is a real-life example:

My fraternity brother, Ronnie, has a young personal training business that has no steady clientele, and he is concerned about whether his promotional efforts are ever going to pay off.

Option A: He can wake up stressed, spend some time complaining about his worries, complaining to me that he may have chosen the wrong business, the wrong target market, or the wrong promotional tools. He finally gets down to work with a total lack of confidence.

Option B: He can wake up determined, spend some time praying for his business, telling me how blessed he is to be creating something he enjoys. He tackles the day with eager expectation!

"If you are thinking you cannot, you will not. If you are speaking of lack, limitation, and obstacles, you will find them at every turn. It is time for you to speak victory over your life."

It is essential for you to understand that attitude is everything, and the words you speak DO matter. I want to encourage you to approach your day with an attitude of incredible expectation. If you have a habit of leaning toward negativity or if your situation is stressful right now, choosing to be positive with your words may be challenging - but I am asking you to stretch your faith and give it a real effort. I have never heard anyone express regret over being positive all day.
