I am reading this article and it infuriating to see how the players are desperately trying to maintain their unconscionable rape of the system. First a video conference is not medicine second preventive care is the relevance in any system to be effective. They are talking about savings but certainly can not quantify them or they may not want to. Naturally they will site patient savings that again depends on the calculations as it looks that a chunk of the fees at this point comes out of their pocket as stated and the rest must be subsidized by the hospital . I looked at the website of their telemedicine providers and although they are talking about pricing there is none besides the power words used as a marketing gimmick. But it is simple to make deductions just by looking at the descriptions and pictures that their offer it is extremely expensive.  I am sure that Epic is not giving their services away for free neither. Than the statement that hospitals have to face the costs. Why? In a real system it is not cost but savings and even revenue. And just to prove the point that they are trying to justify a video conference as a solution read their won statement “a webcam is the main tool of the trade” Is it realy? And the biggest insult to our intelligence is what they have been trying to promote for years in partnership with the Telco’s that broadband is a necessity. We developed a system that works even in the jungles of Africa if it called for so where is this necessity? The American system has to wake up to reality as these costs are spiraling out of control and instead focusing on the pedigree of an innovation focus on the viability
