Subject Line: Is your company at risk of being hacked?
… we helped a client with this challenge recently … The imposters got into the company’s network via the receptionist’s PC which was connected to the internet but had no anti-virus software loaded.
Once the hackers had access to the PC, they connected to the telephony software installed on it and called their premium number telephone service to increase their traffic volumes (and hence revenues) at our client’s expense.
Fortunately, at Du Pont have credit limits in place, limiting the financial damage to our client before the imposters could run up an extensive telephone bill. Are you sure that all your office PCs are located behind the firewall and have proper managed anti-virus software? It’s like leaving the front door unlocked!
Another thing to think about, now that more and more companies are using Microsoft 365 and other cloud applications, it’s critical that you ensure the MFA (multi-factor authentication – i.e. when it sends a One-Time-Password to your phone) is properly activated on all your devices to stop spoofing of emails and hacking of company networks.
