The only constant is change.
That's just one of a ton of lessons we can take away from this visualization of America's demographic shifts over the last 100+ years. It also leads to tons of unanswered questions. The future's uncertain. Short term. Long term.
They didn't call it a baby boom for nothing.
They are the wealthiest generation ever to exist on this planet. Their timing was impeccable. The distribution of that wealth will be tremendous.
How will all these transitions be handled? Are families having the conversations they need to have now? What should that conversation look like? Do people have help? Guidance? Even a little bit of handholding helps a lot...
They're aging, and living longer. Way longer. As we all are. By 2060, it is expected that 95 million Americans will be over 65.
How are we planning for that? Individually, as a society, as a nation?
So much more is changing -
The shares of Black, Asian, Hispanic, and people of two or more races have been growing. Between 2010–2020 the population of people identifying as two races or more increased by 276%.
Where we live in the U.S. is changing. More people are living in the south and southwest - how will that impact the resources a population depends on - water, transportation, agriculture?
The world is changing - it's going to impact technology, politics, finance, culture, business... everything really.
Are we ready for the future?
The best time to prepare for the future is 10 years ago, at least...are we ready for the future? How do we plan when we have so little clarity and certainty? What will the role of technology, innovation, and business in general be to answer these questions?
