SuperMap GIS 2024, Upgrading Geospatial AI to Empower New Productivity

At present, the new generation artificial intelligence technology represented by big models and AIGC has become an important engine for creating new quality productivity. At the 2024 Geospatial Intelligence Software Technology Conference held recently, SuperMap officially released a new product-SuperMap GIS 2024. Among them, geospatial AI technology has been further upgraded, which will promote the digital transformation of various industries.

Geospatial AI technology is a general term for the integration of artificial intelligence and geographic information software technology. As early as 2019, SuperMap launched artificial intelligence GIS technology, and continuously improved its connotation during development, bringing intelligent solutions to industry applications. However, there are too many problems that needs AI to solve in the field of geospatial information. A single AI function is insufficient to meet project needs. Therefore, it is urgent to establish a geospatial AI technology and product system to meet various needs from the perspective of multiple functions and multiple environments.

In SuperMap GIS 2024, SuperMap has brought together various research and development results in the field of geospatial AI and launched the Geospatial AI Technology Foundation (Geospatial AI Foundations): SuperMap AIF. This technology foundation features model diversification, cross-platform, and local deployment. It includes some ready-to-use functions, as well as functions that can be used after customized training and fine-tuning with AI process tools, covering AI three-dimensional data processing and analysis, AI remote sensing image processing, AI remote sensing image interpretation, AI spatial analysis, AI image/video analysis, AI image generation, AI knowledge generation, geospatial intelligent agents (GI Agent), etc.

It empowers SuperMap GIS cloud-edge series basic software products, as well as industry application products such as natural resource informatization. At this year's conference, SuperMap focused on the application results of the SuperMap AIF technology foundation in the production of intelligent remote sensing images, intelligent interpretation of remote sensing images, automated construction of three-dimensional models by AI, geospatial intelligent agents, and AI mapping for spatial planning. Among them, SuperMap has continuously optimized and improved the traditional AI capabilities in the SuperMap AIF technology base, innovated application scenarios, improving the efficiency of remote sensing image production such as automatic detection of remote sensing image deformation, AI automatic de-clouding, and AI automatic quality inspection; SuperMap has added ready-to-use remote sensing interpretation pre-trained models to enrich the interpretation categories; especially the ability of AI to automatically build LOD 2.0 three-dimensional models, which has greatly shortened the time required to build large-scene three-dimensional models.

At the same time, the SuperMap AIF technology base actively integrates AI big model capabilities to improve the overall intelligence level of geospatial software. In terms of computer vision big models, the spatial information prompt form of the SAM big model is expanded, and for industry applications, the remote sensing interpretation big model (LIM) is independently developed to help accurately interpret remote sensing images; in terms of multimodal big models, rich and controllable AI map functions are provided to enable spatial planning and design; in terms of natural language big models, AI knowledge generation capabilities such as intelligent question and answer and knowledge induction are provided to meet industry application needs. At the same time, the geospatial intelligent agent (GI Agent) technology is developed and SuperMap Copilot (preview version) is released to achieve the ability of AI to autonomously think and call spatial intelligent software tools to complete tasks through dialogue interaction.

SuperMap Copilot (preview version) thinks about user requests and calls GIS tools for analysis and mapping

In the future, SuperMap will continue to enrich and innovate various AI capabilities, and work with various ecological partners to combine the SuperMap AIF technology base to support geospatial intelligence platform software and industry application software, providing users with smarter, more efficient and safer solutions.
