Supporting tenants through winter and beyond

Supporting tenants through winter and beyond

As colder weather closes in and purse strings tighten, many of your tenants will require additional support and more targeted engagement. There are a number of key areas where tenants may need extra assistance, including:

  • Pension Credit – Pensioners should check their eligibility for Pension Credit before 21st December to ensure they don’t miss out on vital winter support.
  • Winter Fuel Payment – This is now worth £200 for those on certain benefits and born between 23/09/44 and 22/09/58 – and £300 for those born before 23/09/44.
  • Poor EPC-rated accommodation and DMC – The health and safety of tenants and adherence to Awaab’s Law becomes more challenging in winter weather.

Without targeted engagement across your communities, tenants in need of support and financial assistance may miss out on benefits they’re eligible for – including disability premiums and transitional protection from UC changes.

Powered by intelligent automation, machine learning, AI and behavioural science, you can leverage Voicescape’s intuitive solutions – including Collections, Caseload Manager and Engage – to run targeted engagement campaigns. Less manual outbound contact for your officers means more time to ensure vital winter support for the exact tenants that need it – at the right time. Download our brochure to learn more.

Social housing sector news

Affordable housing builds down 88% in London

Recently released government data reveals 3,156 affordable housing builds began work across Greater London between April 2023 and March 2024, down from 26,386 starts in the previous 12 months. Skyrocketing construction costs and a lack of capital funding and infrastructure are said to be the causes, while a government spokesperson said changes to the planning system, along with increased funding and making local housing targets mandatory, will improve the situation.

How data can help social landlords tackle fuel poverty

Ten sector leaders recently came together for a roundtable discussing how better use of data could fight energy poverty. The discussion was driven by the season and the fact that half of social tenants cannot afford to heat their homes amidst spiking winter and fuel bills. At Voicescape, our engagement solutions integrate with your housing management system, leveraging automation and intelligent technology to help you quickly identify, prioritise and contact the tenants who need your support most.
