As a seasoned Square Guard, I’m here to help you figure out where you belong in the illustrious ranks of the Pink Guard. Even though it might feel like a low level task, we quite literally couldn’t do the games without you. If you’ve got a strong work ethic and no burning need for personal glory, this is where you’ll shine. Check your ego at the door! Circle Guards handle the logistics of the games: moving players, maintaining facilities, and performing whatever tasks need doing to keep the operation humming. The best part of this role is that it doesn’t require strong communication skills! In fact, the quieter the better, plus you don’t have to remove your mask, so no need to get dolled up every day. 

Key Traits:

• Dependable: If you’re the kind of person who always shows up on time, follows instructions to the letter, and doesn’t mind being micromanaged, you’ll fit right in.
• Low-Key: Fancy yourself a rebel or an ideas person? Maybe try elsewhere. Circle Guards thrive on blending into the background and letting their work speak for itself. (Silently. Literally no speaking.)
• Rules-Oriented: This is not the job for free spirits. Along with the free accommodation comes an expectation that you will follow the orders you’re given without question. 

Pros: Joining the Squid Game fam as a Circle Guard is the perfect way to get your foot in the door and learn the ins and outs of the game. You’ll get a firsthand look at how the games operate and build discipline, all while building community with your fellow pink guards. Triangle Guards: The Rule Enforcers

If you want more responsibility than just facilitating games, then perhaps Triangle Guards is the best fit for you. One of the biggest added responsibilities with this role is that you have access to a weapon (we will provide for you!). Triangle Guards are the enforcers of the Squid Game world. If you thrive under pressure and don’t mind a little confrontation, this is the role for you. Triangle Guards are responsible for ensuring fair play and enforcing rules during the games. Players getting out of line? It’s your job to handle it—swiftly and decisively–by any means necessary.

Key Traits:

• Tough but Fair: You’re the one who keeps everything running smoothly, even when players start getting… unpredictable. Your job isn’t to cause chaos but to contain it (unless otherwise instructed after lights out). 
• Quick Thinker: Let’s face it—things don’t always go according to plan. As a Triangle Guard, you need to think on your feet and adapt to whatever’s thrown your way (sometimes literally).
• Calm Under Fire: Precision matters, especially when you’re armed. Reloading is a pain, so make every shot count. The players can quickly get out of hand, so it’s important to remain ready at all times. 

Why It’s Worth It: This role is perfect for people who want more responsibility and care about order and rule-following. Of course, with greater trust (and perks!) comes greater responsibility, and you’ll be expected to carry out tasks in a timely manner to the letter. Remember, the Front Man is always watching! You’ll be close to the action, playing an active role in ensuring the integrity of the games. There’s no room for personal emotions here–save those for your journal. 

Square Guards: The Big Picture Planners

Ah, the Square Guard. Call me biased, but this is the best place to be in the company! If you’ve ever dreamed of leading a team or solving problems on the fly, this is where you want to be. You’ll be in charge of making sure everyone is doing their part to keep the games running smoothly, to maintain the integrity of the mask, and keep players in line. It’s kind of like herding wild animals, but the stakes are literally life and death. It’s truly exhilarating! 

Key Traits:

• Strategic Thinker: You’re not just reacting to problems—you’re anticipating them. A Square Guard sees the whole chessboard, not just the pieces.
• Decisive: Players are unpredictable, and decisions often need to be made in a split second. If you’re someone who thrives under pressure and you can separate your personal feelings from your work, this is the role for you!
• Charismatic-ish: While you’re still fully masked, you’re also the face of authority. Other guards will likely look to you for guidance, and you’ll also have to deal with players who might try to appeal to your more civilized side. But that’s not why you’re here! Stay firm, stay focused, and don’t let the Front Man catch you slipping!

The Benefits: One of the biggest benefits of being a Square Guard is that you have the opportunity to liaise with higher-ups. This means that you get a real chance to showcase your leadership skills and leave your mark on the games. If you’re eyeing a Director of Operations role at the company, then this is a great place to start. A friendly reminder that with this responsibility comes the reality that the consequences could quite literally be deadly if you mess up.
