📈 Surge of New Sellers in E-commerce in China: Welcome, Friends and Competitors! 😊

📈 Surge of New Sellers in E-commerce in China: Welcome, Friends and Competitors! 😊

Recently, it has been reported that as we approach Singles' Day (November 11) this year 2024, we are witnessing a remarkable increase in the number of sellers on e-commerce platforms in China. This phenomenon, despite some doomsday predictions, reaffirms that China remains a strong market with tremendous demand. And here I am, typing this because I don’t live on air! 😊

The impressive 239% increase in store openings on Tmall in just one month demonstrates a consistent interest in this market. However, it’s crucial to point out that this influx of new merchants also reflects how extremely competitive and challenging it is to enter here.

Is China a great market? Without a doubt. But it is also highly competitive. Entering the Chinese market requires being well-prepared; you can’t approach it without a solid strategy. To succeed in online sales in China, it’s essential to get everything right. This includes:

  • Quality product
  • Competitive pricing
  • Proper positioning
  • Effective marketing
  • Impeccable project execution
  • Clear communication and teamwork
  • Ability to withstand challenges and resilience over the long term

In my 14 years as an entrepreneur in e-commerce in China, I have learned that those who endure and do things well are the ones who truly succeed. At 2 Open China. Ecommerce & Business Solutions , we haven’t managed to survive by making impulsive jumps into the market. In fact, those quick decisions, lacking long-term commitment, often lead to more losses and frustration than gains.

The ones who really thrive are those who stay in the game for years and manage to make the market meaningful in terms of volume and/or margin. The rest are mostly just excuses.

Using an analogy: if your 6-year-old daughter tells you she doesn’t like the piano and you do listen to her... the problem isn’t her; it’s you. She won’t know if she truly likes it until she has spent many hours practicing. The same goes for the Chinese market. Don’t tell me if you like the Chinese market or not if you haven’t had the capacity to face and overcome the challenges it entails.

To succeed in China, you must come well-equipped. I’m not saying this because you read it in this post; you know it because you’ve always known it. This is where 2 Open can help you and become part of your team. Dare to take the leap!

If she tells you she doesn't like it I would listen :)
