Surround Yourself With People Who Can Make You Grow and Stretch, Here's Why.

Surround Yourself With People Who Can Make You Grow and Stretch, Here's Why.

What’s limiting your growth? Or the question should be, who is limiting your growth?

Jim Rohn once said, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” and whom you spend the most time with have a significant influence on your moods, how you view the world, and the expectations you have of yourself. According to Tony Robbins, when you surround yourself with positive people, you’re more likely to adopt empowering beliefs and see life as happening for you instead of to you. Just as you benefit when you surround yourself with people who make you happy, you suffer when those in your business or social circles are negative or narrow-minded.

Be Aware Of Your Comfort Zone Of Friends

When you are in your comfort zone, it’s incredibly challenging to pull yourself out; sometimes, it requires some serious soul searching, mentoring, support, and coaching. Your comfort zone will present and give you all the reasons why you should not move but remain right where you are, but what is even worse is surround yourself with people who are quite comfortable being comfortable.

As I mention above, whom you surround yourself with have a tremendous influence on your life, and if the blind is leading the blind, guess what happens, nothing! You will be forever in a circle of mediocrity, wondering what your life could have been like if you only stretch outside of your comfort zone. It can often be uncomfortable to step away from professional relationships that are lacking according to Tony Robbins.

You don’t want to burn bridges, and you might have known some of these friends or colleagues for a long time. But as Tony says, “All growth starts at the end of your comfort zone.” Do you feel like some of your relationships are one-sided? Are your colleagues not operating at the same level you are? When you free yourself from negative relationships, you become more prepared to focus on what really matters to you and your business.

Ask yourself this!

  • Do you consider yourself a go-getter, yet your business partners and team lack ambition?
  • Are you searching for that next level of success, but are being held back by those around you?

Identifying the people in your life who are bringing you down is the first step in making shifts to your peer group or colleagues. The best way to determine who these individuals are is to think about how you feel after spending time with them. Do you feel good about yourself and ready to take on new challenges? Or do you feel upset, unsure of yourself, and not in control of your emotions?

How can you surround yourself with good people that can make you grow and stretch! Here are a couple of suggestion from Tony.

ATTEND EVENTS THAT FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT

To surround yourself with people who will take you to the next level, you need to spend time where they are. Successful and ambitious people attend seminars and workshops that feed their minds and cause them to stretch themselves. They expose themselves to those with different perspectives and continually push themselves out of their comfort zones.

FIND SOMEONE WHO IS ALREADY GETTING THE RESULTS YOU WANT

If you want to accelerate your success, it’s important to surround yourself with successful people you can learn from. Find someone who is already getting the results you want. They have a strategy for success, whether they know it or not, and by spending time with them, you can develop a similar one. How does this person respond to conflict? How do they network and forge relationships with key contacts? What habits have they established that lead to their greatness? Observe their patterns and see how you can adopt similar ones into your life.

You only get one crack at thing call life, you must make the best of it, and you must give yourself a chance to live the life you were destined to live. In many instances, you will lose friends and even family members, but that’s OK, for you to stretch outside of your comfort zone you must be surrounded by like-minded people, there is no other way, people who can push you to become the very best version of yourself. Never settle for your life way below your God-given potential, and don’t be afraid to explore life outside the known.

Life starts outside your comfort zone, and the people whom you surround yourself with will ultimately determine the height of success you achieve or the dreams wasted while you are still here on this earth. Always remember that whom you spend the most time with is who you eventually become.

“When you free yourself from negative relationships, you become more prepared to focus on what really matters to you and your business.” This is so true. Regardless of your leadership role, it’s critical not to feel boxed in by negativity even when that source is a colleague. If you’re a business owner, creating change in the environment may be easier than in cases where you’re not! In cases where you’re not the business owner, I recommend seeking out a professional and confidential coach who will support you through this challenging situation. If you don’t, even your health could be negatively impacted. Remember, there is a way out that’ll provide a positive resolve for you!

This is 100% true! There are numerous studies that amplify this very idea and substantiate this truth. This is a function of knowing deep inside that what you bring to the table has been hard won. When we start supporting each other and actually being grateful for the idea's and genius other's have, it begins to grow humility and an open heart...that's breeds inspiration...go tell someone today how much you appreciate their idea, view or spirit. GRATEFUL!
