Sustainability and Digital Transformation: An Interview with ADVANCE.AI's Team

In this edition of Life@ADVANCE.AI, as we approach Earth Day on April 22nd, we want to reflect on our impact on the environment and what we can do to make a positive change. To emphasise the importance of the day, and the cause, we did some quick hot-seat style interviews with a few of our colleagues, to discuss their views on sustainability and how we can all contribute to a better future.

1. As a product marketing manager, can you share the ways in which ADVANCE.AI is supporting sustainability?

Zhihao Quak (郭智豪) , Product Marketing Manager: As a Product Marketing Manager at ADVANCE.AI, I believe that digital transformation, and more particularly eKYC (electronic Know-Your-Customer), is a critical step towards a more sustainable, paperless future.

Traditional KYC processes often involve extensive paperwork, which not only creates unnecessary waste but also consumes a significant amount of energy and resources. By helping our customers shift towards digital solutions, we are encouraging them to significantly reduce paper usage and energy consumption, resulting in a more environmentally-friendly and cost-effective process.

By adopting these technologies, businesses can not only reduce their environmental impact but also improve operational efficiency and customer experience. And that, hopefully, will be one of the many positive impacts that ADVANCE.AI can bring to the world.

2. From an HR perspective, what do you think are the biggest challenges facing businesses when it comes to sustainability?

Summer Sui , Head of HR: Sustainability for a company is a commitment made from the heart, unlike other business decisions that are made from the head. The biggest challenge is probably to reconcile the two.

The business we are in is about risk, data and credibility; it is highly logical and precise. Whereas sustainability comes from the love for Mother Nature, which is something that can only be felt from the heart. Expanding our leadership capability to be able to connect with both the head and the heart, and to make informed decision that serves both profitability and purpose is definitely a challenge. It is also a great opportunity to really make an impact for sustainability.

3. Being a key leader in the company, how do you think ADVANCE.AI can continue to promote sustainability in the future?

David Pan , Sales Director: As a technology company that is focusing on financial inclusivity through digital inclusivity, I think sustainability is not just about your carbon footprint but also about how do you bring financial access to those who physically were previously unable to. I believe our mission enables a new generation of the underbanked to gain access to all that Web2.0, Web3.0 can offer through their fingertips without lengthy due process delays and wasteful paper trails. We can safely unlock the global financial system through AI, not through legacy but wasteful paper and plastic..

4. What advice would you give to other tech professionals looking to incorporate sustainability into their work?

Wini Violita , Marketing Manager: I would say start small and make gradual changes - everything starts from the individuals themselves. Look for areas where you can reduce waste or energy consumption, and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Also, educate yourself on the latest sustainability trends and technologies, and look for opportunities to implement them in your work. And remember, every small step counts and can make a big difference in the long run.

We hope this feature has inspired you to think about how you can incorporate sustainability into your work and personal life. Let's all do our part to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and the planet.

Happy Earth Day everyone!
