🌱At Davos on Wednesday, the "First Movers Coalition" group announced major climate commitments aimed at creating markets for everything from green steel and aluminum to carbon dioxide removal. It means that the coalition of more than 50 companies like Microsoft, Alphabet, and Salesforce will begin to supply climate-friendly products that are more expensive than their standard counterparts, as well as services that don't (yet) really exist. 🌱Turkey to mark Environment Week with a ‘zero waste’ theme. In addition to the simultaneous "81 Billion Steps" marches in 81 provinces of the country, mass sapling plantings, cleaning campaigns, and bicycle tours will be organized. The activities will be coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Read more

🌱Every year volunteers collect several tonnes of pearl industry waste on the Abrolhos Islands off Geraldton, which is then handed over to creative locals who transform it into art. Click to watch the video of this event.


🌱Food waste accounts for a third of Boston's waste stream and is the nation's largest single landfill material, according to the FDA. That's why Boston will soon just pick up food waste to the curb, along with garbage and recycling for residents interested in composting their food scraps. Read more


🌱Pennsylvania-based building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain has installed recycling technology at its plasterboard factory in Nashville. It will enable the facility to recycle 65,000 tons of material per year, otherwise, it will be sent to landfills. Read more

🌱Target and CVS are testing a reusable bag rental system called "Goatote" at select stores in New Jersey following the single-use paper and plastic bag ban. Read more


🌱Designer Enes Berk Türker's graduation project is a cruiser board called 'Teneke Board', made of aluminum tin waste. This plate is produced from 80% recycled boxes and the remaining 20% consists of different metal parts such as automobile parts. Read more

🌱According to a new ThredUp survey, the global second-hand goods market is expected to grow by 24% in 2022, while the US second-hand market is expected to double to $82 billion by 2026. Read more
