Sustainability Spotlight: Meet Inari Seppä

A lifelong advocate for sustainability

Inari Seppä , Eastman director of circular advocacy in EMEA, is a remarkable individual who has been an integral part of our company for an impressive 31 years, and a dedicated focus on sustainability for the past 6 years. Inari's journey with us is not just a testament to her professional dedication but also a reflection of her deep-rooted values and commitment to creating a more sustainable world.

From childhood values to community action: a journey towards sustainable living

For Inari, sustainability is more than just a job; it's a way of life deeply ingrained in her childhood experiences in Finland. Growing up surrounded by the ethos of reusing, repairing, and recycling, she sees the circular economy as a return to the mindset of her youth, where nothing went to waste. Inari's commitment to sustainability is not only evident in her work but also in her role as a board director of Compost Works in Liverpool, actively contributing to a community composting network to tackle food waste.

A circular mindset in product design

Inari believes the best sustainable product is one that is built to last and can be repaired when needed. Her approach reflects a commitment to reducing waste and promoting longevity in the products we create. When repair is no longer an option, recycling becomes the ideal solution, aligning with her vision of a circular economy.

Advocating for transformation in plastic manufacturing

As the leader of a team advocating for well-written policies in molecular recycling technologies, Inari is at the forefront of Eastman's journey to reinvent plastic manufacturing. She recognizes the importance of plastic and advocates for its responsible use. Inari sees advocacy as planting seeds for success, ensuring the impact of our work is strong, meaningful, and transformative.

Finding fulfillment outside of work

Outside the office, Inari finds joy in spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, taking walks with her dogs, and engaging in various handcraft activities. Whether she's knitting, crocheting, sewing, or tending to her garden, Inari finds fulfillment in activities that provide immediate results of her efforts.

Exploring worlds through words

Inari's heart belongs to Finland, where she finds peace, quiet, and the magic of Christmas in Lapland. A voracious reader, she's halfway through the list of '100 books to read before you die,' exploring diverse genres. In the world of literature, Inari appreciates the fascinating intricacies of British politics, the romantic allure of 'Anything Can Happen,' and the Finnish perspective in 'Sinun tähtesi täällä.'
