SUSTAINING THE ECONOMIC POWER OF CARE.
This is another year in remembrance of Florence Nightingale. As we celebrate 12th May International Nurses Day, it’s time to reflect on new beginnings and leave the past behind because we have Three hundred and sixty-five (365) sunrises to make our patient's experiences better and more memorable.
Sustainability in healthcare is key through integration of health and environmental stewardship, our resilience, and our commitment over time to change the social equity narrative.
In order to have a healthy, safe, prosperous, and equitable world, our social, economic, and environmental activities should be the best evidence-based practices.
Being a nurse is not about the grades. It is about being who we are, an occupation devoted to promoting human and social welfare.
No book can teach you, “how to cry with a patient”. No class can teach you how to tell your family that their parents have passed on or are on the verge of death.
No professor can teach you how to show dignity by expressing your “kindness to persons in your care”.
Nursing is not about just giving pills or medicines or ticking your boxes.
It is about, being able to love people unknown to you regardless of their, religion, race, economic or social background during their journey to recovery from ill health.

As we celebrate the nurse’s week, “Nursing is the work of heart”, let us treat every patient as if they are our own family.
The character of the “Nurse is as important as the knowledge he/she possesses”
It is important to keep in mind these pillars of excellence in your daily nursing roles.
No matter how difficult your Day/Night was, don’t forget the reason you became a nurse.
As nurses, we have the opportunity to heal the hearts, minds, bodies, and souls of the people placed in our care, their families, and ourselves. They may not remember your name, but they will NEVER forget the way you treated them at their weakest point in life.
