SWEdish National 'Fria/Free' Day
Happy New Year on Our National Day 6th of June! May Our Superb nation continue to live in Peace & Prosperity, together with Fantastic Finland, the three great Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, Powerful Poland, Grand Germany, Delightful Denmark, and last but not least, our closest siblings in Naturalistic Norway! Actually, among our nine (9) bordering nations, Sweden has maintained, probably a world historical record, of not being in any direct (war) conflict for over 200 years with anyone of our neighboring nations.
...
In a historical background, since 1818 up until 2024, Sweden has maintained a period of more than 200 years of none warfare with any of our neighbors. This 'neutrality' approach is quite remarkable. I am not an expert in the field of peace studies, but I would argue that no other nation in, at least the European region, has had such a prolonged "peaceful" path towards their neighbors over such an extended period of time - roughly 205 years. A highly likely a 'Peaceful-Record' in Europe and potentially for our whole world!? Please, feel Free to comment to my claimed "world-peace-time-record" and correct me and teach us all around another nation that could break our great Powerful & Peaceful World Record!
In the next following paragraphs, I'll share a "crack-course" on our Swedish national (foreign/internal) policy. Our Swedish non-alliance peaceful period started in 1818 with Jean Baptiste Bernadotte - a former French general who had even fought alongside Napoleon to explicitly abolish royal rule. As Bernadotte was such a brilliant strategist, Napoleon himself named him a Marshal of the French Empire. Bernadotte had no issue becoming our next Crown Prince of Sweden, and as a more excellent negotiator than Napoleon himself, Bernadotte managed to find long-term peace with Sweden's arch-enemy, Russia. Their deal was that while Russia got Finnish territory, Sweden received Norway back from Denmark. Bernadotte soon became King Charles XIV John (in Swedish, Karl XIV Johan) and from 1818 until his death in 1844, he ruled as king over the two Scandinavian crowns of Sweden and Norway.

The most significant events I'm aware of are a peace deal with our brother nation Norway in 1919, and our/Sweden's handling of the Åland Islands dispute, and the WWII - expose these events in more details below:
In 1919, Swedish soldiers armed and ready faced off against an independent movement in Norway, comprised often of farmers wielding farming tools as their weapons. Luckily, our Swedish soldiers recognized that shooting their farming brothers would be a fruitless endeavor. Shortly, Sweden and Norway signed a treaty that both nations still cherish to this day. A similar conflict arose later regarding the small Baltic island of Åland. Though the majority of the island's population spoke Swedish, Finland attempted to "reclaim" it. Rather than engage in unproductive fighting, Sweden chose to "share" Åland with Finland. Both of these incidents demonstrate Sweden's long-standing commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, even if facing armed opposition. By prioritizing diplomacy and avoiding further bloodshed, Sweden has maintained positive relationships with its neighbors for two centuries. Perhaps other nations could learn from this uniquely Swedish approach to handling different types of disputes!? This non-violence approach has allowed Sweden to maintain stability and avoid any devastating impacts of war, for over 200 years - a clear remarkable feat worthy of some closer (correction of course) examination.
During World War II, Sweden carefully avoided direct involvement in the conflict despite Hitler's attacks on European nations. Sweden faced a cruel choice - to remain neutral or face military occupation. As it had done previously, Sweden chose the non-alliance path, primarily to avoid devastating consequences for its own population. There have been claims that Sweden also was pro-Nazi during this period, which may be partially correct. However, such pro-sentiments were widespread across Europe, even in the UK or US. This REALity check on Sweden takes a new angle, where Sweden refused to allow segments of its Jewish community to be 'transported' away, like in most other Nazi-occupied territories.
In fact, as my previous (and future) article on Wallenberg, Sweden was involved in saving thousands of Europeans, regardless of their religious or ethnic background. This included taking in and caring for thousands of Finnish children during the war. Sweden's commitment to humanitarian principles stood in stark contrast to the horrors unfolding across much of our European continent (see future article 4th of Aug, where I share specific info).
Actually, while many European nations faced the unfortunate reality of aligning with the Nazis during World War II, Sweden charted a different course of action. Though officially "neutral," Sweden in fact played a vital role in supporting Allied efforts against the Axis powers. Sweden saved as many or more Allied soldiers through prisoner exchanges as nations directly occupied by the Nazis. It also provided refuge and assistance to members of the Jewish community fleeing persecution, in contrast to the fates suffered in other Nazi-controlled territories.
...
Finally, Sweden covertly trained guerrilla fighters from Denmark, Norway, and other Western Allies on its own soil throughout the conflict. This clandestine support enabled crucial resistance efforts against the German occupation of these countries. Rather than passive neutrality, Sweden's actions during WWII demonstrate a principled commitment to humanitarianism and undermining the Nazi regime. Its quiet but substantial contributions to the Allied cause have often been 'overlooked', in favor of narrow narratives around this Swedish neutrality. Our historical record, however, paints a much more nuanced and heroic picture of Sweden's wartime role.

Sweden maintained an official policy of neutrality after WWII and during the Cold War era, despite substantial cooperation with the West. A main rationale behind this policy was a combination of fear of upsetting the Soviet side and a desire to protect the Still FREE borders of neighboring Finland - as the Baltic states had already been lost. This stay free border view isn't exposed in ordinary literature (this is my own perspective, which isn't discussed) The most seasoned political leaders in Sweden however understood well that this type of "neutrality" would ultimately fail in the longer term. During this period, Sweden's primary aim was to diminish any additional likelihood of nuclear exchange between the "superpowers".
Still, despite Sweden's official policy of neutrality, the country maintained strong unofficial ties to NATO, cooperating extensively with U.S. intelligence agencies. Research has shown that war game simulations consistently included the scenario of NATO defending Sweden in the event of a Soviet attack. Furthermore, Sweden retained the ability to defend itself from an amphibious invasion, with the understanding that the U.S. would provide military support on Swedish soil in the event of Soviet aggression - a guarantee less announced. As part of this military cooperation, the U.S. also provided assistance in the development of the Saab 37 Viggen fighter jet, which my uncle was an established expert on (as mentioned in a previous article). This advanced aircraft was seen as crucial for keeping the Soviet navy from operating within Swedish territorial waters.

Swedish NEW GREAT NATO Alliance & BALTIC SEA ERA!!!
The Baltic Sea region has now transformed into a largely peaceful area, with 9 democratic nations collaborating harmoniously with one another. However, there is one notable exception - one of our ten neighboring countries continues to exhibit a pattern of constant outrage and aggression whenever other nations simply express a slightest differing viewpoints, to their own. It also appears that a significant portion of this country's population have been led to believe that their tiny neighboring nations, such as Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, pose a threat to their sovereignty - despite these being among the smallest countries on Earth. It is truly ironic that a nation with the largest territorial size on earth currently on the planet would claim that a country as small as Latvia represents a danger to their own security. Such an assertion is profoundly delusional and displays signs of a sort of professional-grade paranoia.

This nation's historical pattern of paranoia has led to constant, included nuclear threats directed towards our Western allies. As such, they cannot be considered a trustworthy partner in any capacity. I have closely examined the potential implications of their aggressive nuclear posturing and the pros and cons of Sweden's options regarding NATO membership, versus continue maintaining an alliance-free status.
...
Based on a my game theory analysis, the optimal path to preserve peace in Sweden would be to pursue NATO membership, but with the stipulation that no nuclear weapons would be deployed on our soil. However, the feasibility of such an arrangement remains uncertain, as full integration into the NATO alliance may necessitate some level of access to nuclear armaments within our borders. We will need to closely monitor the evolution of Sweden's NATO membership over time. Readers are encouraged to refer to my previous article on this, which provides additional context and in-depth analysis of the various factors at play.
Thanks for taking the time to read this article. Hopefully, it has shed light on some new areas you weren't familiar with earlier. If you have any questions, feel free to comment and/or chat with me directly via this LinkedIn message platform.
Wish you/-r NATO nation your Own Superb National FRIA/FREE Day!
This part contains a non-public analysis on a ... threat, should the current issue continue to be ignored. I will share this analysis solely with an individual who has the appropriate NATO/Western ... background. Further, I am certain there would be plenty of individuals who share my concerns and would surely advocate for a defense budget of at least 4%, with 8% as the ideal target. Why? Because it is better to Control 100% of Our Own Budget and dedicate 4-8% of it to our Own Defense Technology, Jobs, and Citizens, than to risk being overrun and/or ruled by Russia, Iran or elsewhere.
