Take Charge of Your Day, Issue #145

Take Charge of Your Day, Issue #145

Every day, we’re faced with decisions about how to spend our time.

It’s easy to let life run the show and determine the flow of our days. It’s also easy to get to the end of the day and wonder what happened to the time.

But I know you. You’ve got dreams and goals and things that you want to make happen. So, what’s a girl to do?!

  1. Manage Your Feelings. Evaluate them and decide if they’re worth listening to. A sick friend is worth paying attention to. The guy who cuts you off in traffic is not. Don’t waste your time and energy on things that don’t add value to your life just because they’re right in front of you.
  2. Manage Your Timing. Just because something is happening right now, doesn't mean it needs your attention right now. Red nail polish spilled on the new carpet probably needs your immediate attention. Answering a phone call when you’re in the middle of an important project does not. Listen to your voicemail and call them back.
  3. Train Your Friends. When you get serious about managing your time, your friends might be upset that you’re not available 24/7 to talk. But believe me, they’ll get used to it. Don’t let friends hijack your time with chit-chat while you’re reaching for your dreams.

Taking control of your time is a big deal. It requires discipline, determination, and focus. And while it’s not easy, the rewards are worth the effort!
