#Takeitback17 - KK Packaging
Single use plastic under 75microns banned from September 2021 in Goa, a welcome move by the State Government. By July 1 2022, the state plans to ban all the single use plastic defined for the first time as the one's used as earbuds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice-cream sticks, thermocol for decoration, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, wrapping or packaging films, invitation cards, and cigarette packets, plastic or PVC banners. In the present scenario, it is good to see at least KK Packaging is at least having a buyback price of INR 0.15 per/kg in dry condition which gives an opportunity to the rag pickers to collect and give back and builds a revenue source for people on the ground. Though an extra mile will have to be walked by the KK Packaging in the coming year, I hope that they are able to collect the plastics by concerned citizens.
For me, I would be handing it over to the retail store I got it from, so they could collect and do the reverse logistics (hopefully).
Great to see the change to begin and may all the consumer durable products on the shelfs of the retail stores also apply the similar or relevant strategy for the citizens concerned for the environment.
Adios! Have a great weekend :)
