Taking Action: How Delivering on Your Word Supercharges Your Confidence

"Confidence, Cohen"...

That was one line that has stuck with me since my teenage years watching The OC TV show.

A two word line from one of the female characters to the nerdy main character Seth Cohen, as a reminder for him to be more confident to get the girl.

But what about for us in day to day life.

Confidence, my friend, isn't some elusive quality you're born with; it's a muscle you can build through your actions and commitments.

If you want to supercharge your confidence, here's a simple yet powerful strategy: do what you say you'll do.

It's not just about keeping promises; it's about earning trust, self-respect, and an unwavering belief in yourself.

And one area I consistently see people breaking their confidence is in themselves.

In the seemingly small actions and promises which you consistently break for yourself.

"I am going to get up at 5am tomorrow and (work/train/learn)"

Then 5am comes and the snooze button gets hit, delaying your hopes and dreams. Causing you to lose confidence in yourself.

"I am going to get healthy, lose this weight and start looking after myself for my (kids/grandkids/wife)"

Then you sleep in, work gets busy and you sack the gym off in favour of another night in front of the telly.

Or work gets busy so you grab a greasy meat pie from the service station next to your work or a toastie from Starbucks!

These seemly small actions when done once may not have a huge impact.

However, research shows that those who follow through on commitments experience increased self-esteem and a greater sense of accomplishment. It's like setting a goal and smashing it every single time.

So what happens when you continually say you're going to do XYZ but you never follow through? You erode that confidence in yourself and your ability to do what you say you would do.

The fix?

Pick something small today and simply follow through.

If you keep saying you're going to get up earlier... There is a reason for it.

So set your alarm, turn off the damn snooze button and get up!

If you keep saying you're going to eat better or train, then prepare a meal to take to work or join that gym.

Even if you just eat one meal better than yesterday or walk 10 minutes on the treadmill today, you will be creating the change you promised yourself and building the confidence in yourself.

In a nutshell, my friend, it's all about taking action.

When you deliver on your word, not only do you gain the trust of those around you, but you also elevate your self-esteem and self-belief.

So, don't just talk the talk; walk the talk, and watch your confidence soar to new heights.

And if you need help with any of it I am only a message away.

Don't forget to share with friends, colleagues or family members you think will benefit.
