Taking the Leap & Overcoming Fear
As a 19 year old entrepreneur, running a marketing agency with 4 employees and a clientele of 7 businesses is rewarding yet daunting. I, even after 6 months of being in the business, have anxiety before taking up a call. I have days where I constantly second guess my decisions.
Yes, it’s a journey full of stones to jump over but you have to take the leap! Like I said I feel anxious before taking up a call but once I pick up the phone, I gain my confidence back and know exactly what I am doing. Even when I have second thoughts, I gather the courage to take the decision. Conquering my fear has led to so much success and here’s how you can do it too:
Focus on building your expertise and confidence
I suffered from imposter syndrome for the longest time and it took me a while to understand that nobody knows what they’re doing and if their decision will result in success. Building my skill and knowledge has led to enhancing my confidence. I encourage you to keep on top of your industry with newsletters and courses to reduce your self doubt and always have the courage to make the decision, even if it results in failure.
Break big goals into smaller and manageable tasks

In times when I feel overwhelmed, I break down the task into smaller and achievable milestones. When you do the same you’ll realize that the feeling of accomplishment will help keep your motivation high. You don’t have to conquer everything in one day!
Celebrate successes along the way and surround yourself with a positive support system
Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. It reinforces your confidence, boosts morale, and reminds you of your progress. Treat yourself to the bag you’re eyeing or even the ice cream you’ve been craving!
Having a support system is SO important - be it just your mom. Having one person other than you to believe in your dreams will help you in taking the leap. I’m blessed with family and friends who provide immense support to my endeavors. And hey, if you feel alone, bglsocials has a community of over a 100 marketing enthusiasts waiting to welcome you.
Remember, success often lies on the other side of fear, and with determination and perseverance, you can overcome any obstacle in your entrepreneurial journey. And as Amber Scholl said, “What if it doesn’t come true? But ah, what if it does?”
