Tallinn opens new NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence
In Tallinn, the new building of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence was inaugurated on Friday (March 15). Nearly 40 nations are represented at the center, providing the necessary facilities for daily work.
Kusti Salm , permanent secretary at the Estonian Ministry of Defence, pointed out that the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) is the only centre of excellence that includes all NATO member states and partners worldwide.
In addition to the kinetic dimension, the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine has a cyber dimension, which has led states with shared values to increasingly appreciate the value of sharing knowledge and information. Salm said, "I'm delighted that developments in cybersecurity will now have a worthy space to flourish."
CCDCOE was established in 2008 and provides NATO and its members with insights into cyber developments.
A total of 32 NATO countries are members of the group and seven non-NATO nations, including Japan, Korea, and Ukraine. Estonia actively supports the Albanian, North Macedonian, and Australian accession processes.
