 WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT

In my lifelong personal quest, I’ve studied more than 5,000 years of history and most of the world’s great spiritual teachings from eastern, western and some indigenous cultures.

I’ve been struck by how many top authors and other leaders throughout history report they got their best ideas “downloaded” into them through what they described was some type of Higher Power—a power greater than themselves.

There are many different ways that people conceive of, and describe, that Higher Power. Some call it God, or the Higher Self, or the Soul, or Angels, or the Christ-within, or the Buddha nature, or the Unconditioned Self or the Deep I or the No-Self, to name a few.

The benefits of a having a relationship with your Higher Power is as real today as it has been for thousands of years. 

Recently I heard Anthony Robbins asked what all the most powerful people he’s met have in common. He answered, “They have great faith and great courage.”

Not too long ago, I heard a recording of famous thought leader Alfred Adler interviewed at age 85. His original book morphed over a few decades of time into the entire world-changing field of Adlerian psychology. He acknowledged this phenomenon and added “I’m grateful for the Idea that has used me throughout my career.”

And I’ve had the good fortune of publishing and/or marketing quite a number of internationally renowned authors. They all seemed to make it a priority to pray for inspiration and guidance on their books.

For instance, I published and marketed one of the world’s greatest authorities on personal growth, Bob Proctor. Bob also was one of the stars of the movie, “The Secret.” 

In our first meeting on the project, I suggested to Bob that we start our project by doing a prayer and asking our higher power for guidance on the project.  Bob told me how, for more than 25 years now, he’s made it a habit of doing exactly that whenever he starts writing a new book. 

He said he’s convinced it’s been the #1 reason his books and business have been so successful and become internationally renowned.  

STEP #1: ASK YOUR HIGHER POWER

Therefore, Step #1 of my proprietary time-tested system to write a great book fast is to ask your Higher Power—no matter how you may conceive of it-- to bless, or inspire, or guide you in writing your book.

Around the world, the most popular way people have always, and still, communicate with their Higher Power is through prayer.

Prayer is deliberate communication, or an invocation, that seeks to activate a response from a power greater than the practitioner of that prayer.

If you pray with genuine caring, then reinforce it with another little prayer daily, it can supercharge the whole experience of writing your book.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT THIS STEP

I want to emphasize that anyone can use prayer successfully, no matter what your religious or spiritual background or belief system is. And it works no matter if you’re writing your first and only book, or if you’re a veteran author.

Cultures today and throughout history have reported using at least 2 types of prayer successfully:

1.   Vocal or oral prayer—these prayers are offered by speaking aloud and petitioning your Higher Power for whatever is desired for your book.

2.   Mental—these prayers are offered to the Higher Power in thought alone. 

Both western and eastern teachings outline four simple steps to create an effective prayer:

1.   Acknowledge and call-upon your Higher Power, however you conceive of it, and whatever you call it.

2.   Ask your Higher Power for whatever you want regarding your book, and by when. Use whatever language to do it that’s natural for you.

3.   Express gratitude to your Higher Power for hearing your prayer, and for responding to it.

4.   Repeat the above 3 steps daily with genuine devotion and gratitude

NOTE: to accelerate the results you get from a given prayer, when you are doing Step #2 above, and asking your Higher Power for whatever you want regarding your book, you can add “Please show me in a way I’ll understand beyond a shadow of a doubt, have confidence in, and take appropriate action on with perfect timing.” 

THE BENEFITS

Book authors who pray like this—and especially those who reinforce it with a daily prayer going forward—report countless benefits from their prayers. 

Over my decades of work with authors, I’ve heard innumerable people say they feel their prayers brought them better ideas for their book (like Dr. Alfred Adler, as I mentioned). 

Others report developing plans they feel are inspired, come to fruition easily and market their books more successfully. Still others give credit to prayer for synchronicities and all sorts of other beneficial phenomena that occur to them.

PROOF IT WORKS

I had a pretty dramatic example of this happen to me when I was writing my first book.

I’d outlined it and was ready to write the first draft. But I was about to take a 10-day vacation. So, I fervently prayed that, on the day I returned, I’d be inspired and guided to turn my outline into a great book that would express my life purpose and accomplish the goals for the book.

Ten days later after I returned from vacation, I sat down, took out the outline and began writing the first draft. But, as soon as I started writing, I received an amazing download. 

It was a vision that seemed like it was in 3-D and technicolor! It showed me an entirely different strategy to create the book and how the strategy (to make the book an anthology) would create my book and accomplish my purpose even more powerfully. It also showed me how to do it so it could make money for me before the book was even published. And it showed me how the infrastructure I’d need to set up to create the book could be immediately be re-sold to help many other people year-after-year thereafter.  

I got all this in a download that lasted maybe two seconds.

Over the last 20 years, I followed through on that vision and, basically, it’s all come true.

The book and the programs spun-off of it have made a lot of readers very happy. And they brought in $1,027,000 revenue to me during first 27 months of the book’s publication as well as millions of dollars more in subsequent years.
