Tax Strategies and Business Growth Tips for Entrepreneurs with CPA Rachel Blish
Hey everyone! Welcome back to another edition of Talk with Coach. Today’s episode is extra special because I had the privilege of chatting with my dear friend, Rachel Blish, who’s not only a powerhouse in the accounting world but also an inspiring woman who’s balancing it all—business ownership, motherhood, and community service.
Rachel and I go way back, and it was so refreshing to sit down and catch up on her incredible journey. In this episode, we talked about everything from her path to becoming a CPA to how she navigates the challenges of owning a business and raising a family. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, an aspiring entrepreneur, or someone who’s just trying to juggle life, this episode has something for you.
A Non-Linear Path to Success
One of the things that stood out to me in our conversation was how Rachel's career path wasn't exactly straightforward. From interning during her senior year of high school to finally becoming the owner of Denison Blish CPA Group, Rachel shared how her passion for accounting always brought her back to what she was meant to do. Her story is a great reminder that our journeys don’t always look like we planned, but sometimes they turn out even better.
In Rachel's words, "God led me right back to where I was supposed to be, and I couldn’t be happier." That resonates so much with me! Often, our purpose finds us when we least expect it.
Balancing Parenthood and Entrepreneurship
We also dove into the real struggles of balancing work and family. As a mom to her beautiful daughter, Halle, Rachel admitted that it hasn’t always been easy. But her drive to provide a better life for her family and the flexibility to spend more time with them has kept her motivated.
As a working mom myself, I know firsthand how tough it can be to balance all of the things life throws at you. Rachel shared how creating a routine and setting boundaries between work and family life has been key to her success. “In the end, all the hard work is worth it,” she says. And that couldn’t be more true!
The Importance of Understanding Your Business’s Numbers
Rachel’s advice for small business owners was gold. She emphasized how crucial it is for every business owner to not just “do what they’re good at” but to also understand their numbers. Whether you're running a small shop or managing multiple ventures, knowing where your money is going is essential to growth.
She shared, “Even if you're not the one doing the accounting in your business, you need to understand it. Without knowing your numbers, you have no control over how your business will grow.” If you’re in business, this is a must-listen part of the episode.

From Personal Growth to Business Strategies
Rachel’s business advice didn’t stop there. We also talked about the different types of business structures—LLCs, S-Corps, and C-Corps—and how choosing the right one can save you a lot of headaches down the road. She also shared some tips on how to effectively budget and manage cash flow, even if you're just starting out.
For anyone who’s been confused about how to set up their business or manage their finances, Rachel breaks it down in such a simple, easy-to-understand way.
The Power of Coaching in Business Growth
Rachel is also a huge advocate for coaching, which is something that’s near and dear to my heart. She shared how working with a coach helped her make some tough decisions that ultimately transformed her business. This part of the episode is a great reminder that sometimes we need an outside perspective to help us see things more clearly and move forward.
If you’re thinking about how to grow your business, don’t miss this!
Rachel’s journey is filled with lessons on perseverance, faith, and finding balance in life. I truly believe this episode will speak to anyone who’s looking to grow both personally and professionally.
