Welcome to the final Weekly of the year – the email you’ve been waiting for. Let’s take a moment to celebrate what we achieved in 2024 and manifest our hopes for 2025.

This year, the European Commission has chosen Barcelona to lead in chip development and Artificial Intelligence. Barcelona's Supercomputing Center (BSC) will head the €240 million DARE project and host one of Europe’s first AI Factories, with €198 million to build a high-performance AI ecosystem for all, including startups. It’s been a year of excellent research and innovation, but also great momentum in startup creation –aiming for 3,000 startups by 2030– and key investment opportunities –8 of Spain’s top 10 largest funding rounds came from Barcelona-based startups and scaleups, raising over €1.07 billion–.  

And the players gonna play, play, play, play, play ¡Queremos...marcha!  

At Tech Barcelona, we welcomed 207 new members, bringing us close to 1,500, and reached 100 partners for the first time! We hosted almost one activity per day, over 1,000 meetings, innovation tours for 3,500+ visitors, and a community of over 82,000 people. Not bad, right? Hard work pays off. We were named 'Startup Ecosystem Star 2024' in Paris, and celebrated the fifth edition of Tech Spirit Barcelona in a packed Llotja de Mar (content coming soon on our YouTube channel). And while international companies like IFCO joined us at Pier01, our network also expanded through collaborations with coworking spaces like Manglar.  

Looking to 2025...  

We want more successful startups, more deep tech, more investment, and more impactful projects. Many challenges lie ahead, but technology will keep driving change, with people at the center.
