Team Optimization – What You Need to Know
Change Is Not Going Away
We all know that the one constant is change, but there’s change, and then there is radical change – and we have been living through more change in the past two years than many of us could have ever imagined. I have news; it’s not over. It seems like just when you get one thing figured out and another element changes because that is how quickly change has occurred over the past two years. This constant change can create burnout, exhaustion, and a lack of control. When things feel out of control, it creates an environment of distrust, lack of safety, and a place where you can’t ever seem to find any peace or relax. By taking the time to understand that this change has created needs within your team, you can make strides in team optimization.
The Workforce Has Shifted
Your business has likely experienced massive turnover and difficulty finding people to hire. As we see COVID winding down, there is a temptation to jump back into work and push your business forward. But the truth is that things are not the same, so you will not be able to go back to what things used to look like in the office. We are going into a different work environment that runs on a completely different business model. The aspect that has changed the most is that employees are finally getting the recognition they have deserved the entire time.
Your business is your people, and to recruit and retain your talent, you must emphasize more than productivity – you have to focus on your people and relationships. With people having the upper hand in the workplace, called the “great upgrade,” it is time to look at your strategies and how you plan to execute this people-focused shift.

Know Your Change Agents
To truly optimize your team, you must know your people and their strengths and personalities. The most important identification is knowing who can lead through change to lead a transformational change. These are the leaders who will be able to help you adjust your business strategy and make it stick while in this constant moving water where all of these moving parts are still up in the air. If you are unsure who these people are in your organization, you need help finding them. It will be almost impossible to pull off success right now without them.
Consult With A Professional
If you are unsure how to identify the strengths in your building, your change agent leaders, and how to lead the rest of the team, you need to consider hiring a consultant. There may have been times that team optimization was not at the top of your list – now is not that time! You need to find someone who can help you identify the leaders that can lead with charisma and skills to help you push through to the next level. Allowing these leaders to drive change will give your organization purpose and a clear path. Without it, productivity will be stifled because no one will know where to go or what to do next. Even though you may think you know your people well enough to do this, it is always a good idea to get a fresh perspective on maximizing the talents within your team.
