Updates to Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft is rolling out a series of powerful new features in the Teams Rooms on Windows app, designed to elevate the meeting room experience.

Proximity Join Using Ultrasound

The new Proximity Join feature uses ultrasound signals to help you easily identify and connect to a nearby Teams room. Your device will automatically detect available rooms and display them on the pre-join screen. IT admins can configure these ultrasound signals and set up automatic acceptance of join requests via XML files.

Native Camera Controls for OEM Features

You can now directly manage OEM-provided camera features within Teams Rooms, such as group framing, active speaker framing, and specific IntelliFrame views. This gives you more control over the in-room meeting experience.

Work Location Auto-Set on Bookable Desks

With your permission, when you plug into peripherals at a bookable desk, your work location will be automatically set to “In the office.” This makes it easier to coordinate with colleagues who are also in the office. Learn more about Teams bookable desks.

Daily Restart for Teams Panels

Teams panels will now automatically restart every day, just like Teams Rooms. The default restart window is between 2:00 am and 3:00 am (local time). If the device is in use, the restart will be rescheduled for the next day. You can adjust or disable this feature in the device settings or the Teams Admin Center.
