This International Women's Day, India received a powerful symbol of "Nari Shakti" with the nomination of Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha.

"It is my privilege and honour to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha by our Honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our country and its people, both of whom have taught me so much about life and have given my family and me far more than we could ever imagine," she said.

Murty's husband, NR Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, welcomed the nomination, emphasising her richly deserved recognition.

"Our family is happy that she received this prestigious responsibility. We feel she richly deserves this nomination,” Murthy said.

Murty, an acclaimed writer, philanthropist, and the driving force behind Infosys Foundation, has left a lasting mark on diverse fields.
