Technical Configuration Officer – Johannesburg, Gauteng – Job ID 4048

Our client in the armoured and mine protected vehicles industry is looking to employ a Technical Configuration Officer with exceptional mechanical and manufacturing experience to join their Configuration Department. Will work closely with the Engineering, Procurement, Production & Product Support departments.

The ideal candidate will have National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering as well as experience in the following: Engineering BOM’s; Technical Drawings (Engineering Data Pack); Manufacturing BOM’s Problem Reports; Engineering Change Proposals; CAD knowledge; Understands PLM systems (Preferably Teamcenter). Prior experience in Configuration management.

Reports to: Data Project Manager

Primary Purpose: The purpose of this job is to work closely with the following departments: Engineering, Procurement, Production & Product Support. The incumbent needs to coordinate all Engineering Change Proposals (ECP’s) Production Problem Reports (PPR’s) between the Departments as well as maintaining all the baselines. Must manage data between PLM (Teamcenter) and ERP (Syspro) Maintain released data from PLM to ERP Maintain / Correct all Jobs in Syspro after ECP release. Assist Procurement on orders (Cancellation or new orders)

Rework Instructions

Approvals defining Bom Structure for Installation, Assembly, Manufacturing (Inhouse) & Bought outs.

Releasing of Data pack under configuration (Closing of ECP’s)

Inform all stakeholders (CCB & Emails)

Creating Purchase Requisition (Demands) to procurement (Check completeness against HWBS) Baseline Management (Snapshots)

Define Manufacturing Bom’s for each type of vehicle in conjunction with manufacturing.

Manage Teamcenter data (PLM) Manage ERP Data (Syspro)

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Engineering BOM’s.

Technical Drawings (Engineering Data Pack)

Manufacturing BOM’s Problem Reports

Engineering Change Proposals

CAD knowledge (no need to be user)

Understands PLM systems (Preferably Teamcenter)
