Note that the figures represent primary production from mines, and do not include metals from secondary sources such as recovery from recycled material. The proportion of secondary sources used in meeting global demand varies significantly according to the particular metal - in the case of lead, global annual consumption in 2015 was approximately 10M tonnes, with approximately 50% of total demand met from recycled material.

Could effective recycling have the same impact on the newly mined production of copper and zinc as it apparently has had on that of lead?
