Thanks for Noticing Me ...
My phone has been on for the whole of the Christmas period ... yes, I may be the CEO of a regional charity but I am also on the Outreach Team and have my own caseload of disabled beneficiaries.
So why was my phone on ... the answer to that is very simple - events happen every day and, whether they are good or bad they need to be dealt with. Take the single mum who needed an emergency grant on Christmas Eve for a bed, the mum who needed a fridge on new Year's Eve so her daughter could come home from hospital or the disabled lady dealing with grief on Christmas Day and having no support network...
I started this charity to offer self-employment support - information, advise and guidance but as we have grown and supported more people, I have found that it is more than that. We have developed friendships, helped families, and just been there.
Do I want a medal ... obviously ;) ... but what I really want to do is ask you to think about those we support that may need us out of hours ... is there more we can do? Even answering a quick email or text so that person knows someone cares and is listening ..
My New Years Resolution is to keep the work phone on all the time ... just in case .. you know where I am if you need me :)
