There's only four reasons to include any topic in IT certification training....

1) Will it make your reader/viewer a better tech? Forget the cert for a minute and think about the needs of your student. Is what you're about to cover going to help your student be better in the real world?

2) Is it on the exam? More importantly is what you're instructing connecting in the same theme and direction of the exam objectives (as opposed to just parroting a word or phrase from the objectives to CYA).

3) CIC? (Cuz It's Cool). Let's face it, most certification objectives are so dull as to cause even us nerds to tune out. Sprinkle in a few interesting topics, full of flash and sparkle, to give your students a break from walls of text/acres of head shots.

4) Do they need to know what they DON'T NEED TO KNOW? This is a tricky, subtle issue but it's also important. Example: Never show an advanced setting UEFI screen without telling the student that some of the items are simply unimportant except in the rarest of cases.
