Think Emotions Don’t Belong in Business? Think again.
Discover why. 🧠💡
Each week, I like to share insights for you to consider a different perspective.
In today’s workplaces, disconnection, silos, and burnout are far too common.
We’ve got teams struggling to connect, leadership feeling isolated, and burnout quietly sapping productivity.
The missing link? Emotions.
When workplace emotions become visible, they shift from being hidden obstacles to guiding lights. 🔆
Think of emotions as data—often overlooked, but incredibly valuable.
They give us information—signals that can be measured and understood.
And this is where the 4 V's come in: Visibility, Value, Validation, and Valuable. ✌️
🟡 1. Value
↳ Emotions carry value. They signal how engaged, supported, or disconnected someone feels. When you value emotions, you value real human experiences. It could be stress causing a missed deadline or excitement speeding up a project. These signals are important—they give you a window into the real workings of your team.
🟡 2. Validation
↳ Recognising emotions isn’t just about listening—it’s about giving validity to your team’s experiences. It shows them that they matter. This kind of acknowledgment builds trust, loyalty, and psychological safety—foundations for any thriving workplace.
🟡 3. Valuable
↳ When emotions are valued and validated, they become a valuable asset. They provide insight into team dynamics, leadership effectiveness, and potential areas for growth. Emotional insights help leaders make better decisions and foster a more resilient culture.
👀 🟡 4. Visible
↳ When emotions are truly visible, they reveal opportunities for genuine connection, engagement, and growth. 🚀
So, where do the 4 V’s appear in your business?
Every business needs these more than ever.
