Third anniversary of Vitrum Technologies GmbH
Vitrum Technologies' Non-Isothermal Thin Glass Forming Machine

Third anniversary of Vitrum Technologies GmbH

As a spin off from Aachen-based Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, Vitrum Technologies is happy to announce its three-year anniversary. We are offering solutions for mass production of precise complex shaped 3D glass, which reduce cycle time, energy consumption and material cost.

We made big strides in the development of new glass forming processes and designing a new generation of equipment such as:

Bulk Glass hot forming machines for aspherical or free-form lenses:

  • Depending on the geometry and accuracy requirements, Vitrum uses different thermal forming processes for the following applications:
  • Isothermal precision glass molding machines for end products with the highest shape accuracy requirements and non-isothermal glass molding machines for high volume production that can reduce cycle time by up to 90% without compromising surface quality.

Thin Glass hot forming machines for mirror substrates, domes, sensor covers and automotive interior componets.

The machine incorporates four different processes:

  • Gravity Slumping
  • Vacuum Assisted Slumping
  • Press Bending
  • Deep Drawing

Our ‘cutting edge’ isothermal and non-isothermal processes for thin and bulk glass enable our customers to expand into new markets and increase current market shares.

Our gratitude goes to our colleagues, customers, suppliers, and friends. Special thanks are owed to the colleagues from Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT and Optics at Fraunhofer IPT for their outstanding contribution and dedication.
