As the People Operations Generalist, I work behind the scenes at Thoughtworks Canada, helping cultivate a culture where everyone can thrive and grow. From onboarding to off-boarding, benefits to background checks, I ensure our employees feel valued and supported.

What’s the most interesting challenge you're working on?

I’m currently on an adventure to create a human resources (HR) experience that's efficient and awesome. From payroll to benefits, I’m working on improving processes that make onboarding, off-boarding and benefits smoother for Thoughtworkers.

What inspired you to have the career you have today?

From serving tables in my youth to HR in my adult years, I've consistently been the go-to person for enforcing rules. Whether it was reminding my former bosses about employment laws or holding former managers accountable, I've turned my knack for order into a career! Who knew serving coffee could lead to managing policy?

What achievement are you most proud of in your career to date?

I thrive in vibrant workplaces! Whether it's the energetic buzz of a marketing studio or the creative playground of an animation studio, I've always flourished in fun environments. Now, I get to enjoy my experience at Thoughtworks, a top technology consultancy with an awesome culture.

If you could go back in time and give yourself career advice, what would it be?

I would tell my past self that no gig is too puny to tackle. Even if it feels like a snooze, every task unveils the big picture. Dive in, soak up the knowledge and watch your growth. Being the go-to helper is like scoring bonus points to level up your career.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I'm all about cultivating my indoor jungle while deep diving into the world of RuPaul's Drag Race! Whether I'm nurturing my plant babies, cuddling with my Golden Retriever companion Waverly, or dominating Mario Party Superstars on my Nintendo Switch, you can find me making memories with loved ones.

I love catching the latest movies, soaking up the sun at the beach, and indulging in delicious meals from the latest trendy food spots. And of course, I adore spending time with my energetic niece and nephew—they bring so much joy to my life!

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what album, movie, and book would you take with you?

Album: Island in the Sun by Weezer

Movie: Cast Away

Book: Lord of the Flies by William Golding

And finally, what’s your favourite product and why?

My iPhone is like a magical genie in my pocket, granting me access to a world of wonders. With one tap, I connect with loved ones, order my favourite Starbucks drink, and stream my favourite shows.

As for my screen time, let's just say that's a secret only my iPhone and I share.
