Three Life Lessons That Could Change Your Perspective

I do not claim to be a self help guru. I wanted to share what I have realized and perhaps it could be of some value, it has helped me change my perspective for sure.

1.      How do I fully utilize my hidden potential?

It is for a reason its known as hidden potential! Let me give an analogy that will help provide an answer.

Discovering the hidden potential is like mining precious stones. Inside the earth in many pockets there are gems that lie await to be discovered. So what is the process of going after them? Of course the first step is realizing that they are there. In our case when we consider human potential there always are inside of each one of us the hidden gems that we do understand are there but do not know how to mine.

For mining we need the right tools and resources and an understanding of the direction and area that you want to mine in. Talking about the latter, there could be trials and errors in the path to discovering the right area and direction and it is fine to stumble a couple of times before we do find the right thing. So, what is the lesson? One needs to try different things and perhaps fail a couple of times but has the will and desire to continue and pursue to uncover the right area and direction. Now coming to the former part, once there is a fairly good idea not perfect by any means, then we need to go after the tools and resources to mine. So, acquiring or adding to the skills and then identifying the people who could help us get deeper in the area and direction of our interest becomes a logical step. For entrepreneurs, raising funds become the critical step to pursue.

Once you start mining, there could be surprises that you did not plan along the way. So what needs to be remembered is to keep pursuing and adapting with the final goal or the vision in mind.

To conclude, this is the process one could follow. All starts with the fact that there is realization and action. There is no way you could realize your potential if you do not get off your butt and do something about it.

2.      How to become more successful and get more in life from what I am getting currently?

It is very easy to fall prey to the harsh realities of life and be victimized by it and still expect why you are not getting more in life.

The thing is to get more in life one needs to have a bigger circle of influence. You could imagine that more will fall into the circle if its bigger. Now, how do you increase your circle of influence. It is not that complicated, you just need to impact more people in life positively than what you might be doing right now. And how do you do that? Well, everyone has to find their own way to do it effectively and which works for them. Maybe, you could do this by being a novelist with great story telling skills and fantastic ideas to share. Or, you could pursue the corporate career to excel in your professional life. Or, you could become and entrepreneur and pursue your passion in a way that positively impacts lives of people.

So, think about this and move ahead with full throttle.

3.      Why do we compromise and settle for less than what is possible?

More often than not to deal with the realities of life people take actions that falls into a wide spectrum of things. Also, the intensity of where they fall into this spectrum depends upon the intensity of the harsh realities and obvious difficulties one might have to face. If you are submissive, you become a silent sufferer. If you are neutral personality, constantly you are torn in two halves. If you are aggressive, then you rebel and take actions to deal with the punches accordingly.

Let us take it one at a time. You could be an obvious victim of atrocities and bad set of cards in life or be a silent victim. Quite a few people are silent victims. They develop this continuous stream of self-doubt and negativity and never get a grip over their life. They become victims of their own thought process. The stronger the thought process is, the bigger hole is dug!

In case of neutral personalities, they become experts in balancing the compromises- never actually admitting its not right and believing that this is how it is and the cards they have is the destiny they are bound to.

For the aggressive ones, it could actually either create great transformations or go in a really bad direction. Mostly, I think aggressive fare better than the passives and neutrals here because they actually do something about the situation.

So, what should one do? I think the solution is realizing deeply and believing that you are the captain of your own ship. You have to take care of this ship- the mind and body accordingly and provide it good direction over rough seas. It will never be smooth, but it is by overcoming obstacles with confidence one can become a good captain of their lives. Of course, you need the skills, knowledge and experience but if by acquiring all this still you feel at loss is because you have still not become that captain of your life. Self-belief is critical and so is the quiet confidence in your abilities and a realization that you are in a journey to realizing your ultimate potential, destined to be successful and achieving much more in life than you currently think you have.
