The Three Pillars of High Performance

The Three Pillars of High Performance

As a high achiever, results drive you. Your ability to perform at the highest level allows you to create more wealth in your business and personal life.

Most coaches and entrepreneurs focus on aspects of performance like productivity, time management, self-discipline, systems and routines, or maybe communication and leadership skills.

While those are all valid and very helpful, we take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

And here's what we see: your performance levels are a reflection of you. A mirror of who you are and what’s going on in your life.

I'll explain.

All the productivity tools, techniques, and hacks you use, will create limited growth if added to someone who doesn't first work on their foundation.

If you want to achieve exponential growth in the shortest amount of time – you need to work on the foundation of who you are as a person.

You are a unique human being, and your life is complex and interconnected. Your personal life, your professional success, your relationships, and your mental health are interwoven.

This is why high performance MUST be seen as multi-dimensional.

There are three interconnected pillars in high performance.

If all three pillars are rock solid, you can achieve much more in your personal and professional life, without having to try harder.

1. Emotional Resilience Pillar

As I am writing this, I am fully aware that most business leaders are type-A personalities and typically shy away from touchy-feely conversations, so this may not be something you may be thinking about right away.

But let me put this bluntly: How you feel each and every day has the biggest impact on how you perform in your business, life, and career.

If you're feeling worried, anxious, stressed, tired, or irritable, this lack of emotional stability will have very serious consequences for your entire life – from your personal relationships to the results you can achieve professionally.

If you don’t feel right, if your mind is not calm, if you feel nervous, if you're second-guessing or doubting yourself, your ability to negotiate, to close deals, to manage your staff, to identify opportunities and foresee problems - will all be negatively impacted.

While entrepreneurship comes with a lot of challenges that can lead to mental and emotional health issues, it clearly doesn't have to be this way.

You can learn powerful tools and techniques that will allow you to feel great on the inside, regardless of circumstances, and your ability to deliver results will increase manyfold as a result.

Imagine waking up in the morning feeling more confident and relaxed than you have in the last 10 years. You get to work feeling strong and powerful, yet you are at peace, knowing full well that you can handle anything the day throws at you. You feel like you did in your prime.

This unstoppable confidence is coming from deep inside you.

You will be able to find more opportunities and close more business with less effort, by virtue of the way you show up in life.

This is why it is crucial for your success that you get your emotional health in the best shape possible.

2. Relational Quality

The people that you're surrounded by and the relationships you are in represent another pillar that impacts your performance.

What we found over the years is that for many business owners and leaders, their marriage can either be the source of their power - or a drain on their energy.

Let’s talk frankly - if you are feeling stressed or uneasy around your spouse, you will take that stress with you to work.

For business couples particularly, a lot of challenges may arise in this area. Conflicts around control over the business, financial burden, stress, and many other issues can chip away at your marriage.

This will in turn have a negative effect on your performance.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

You can learn the tools you need to have healthy, inspiring, and truly supportive relationships in your life - with your spouse, as well as your family and your business partners.

You can learn to connect with others on a deeper, more meaningful level. You can learn to connect from your heart, not just your head…

And this will allow you to perform at a much higher level, because your mind will be calmer and sharper. It will no longer be preoccupied with conflicts that you know you will have to eventually deal with. You'll free up a lot of mental space that can be repurposed more productively - towards your goals.

3. Cognitive Pillar

In your business or career, you are constantly juggling priorities, solving problems, designing strategies, dealing with people, and so on.

You're making decisions all day long. Your business, your family and your well-being depends on your ability to make the most effective decisions.

It’s a common misconception that you need to access more of your brain to acquire additional mental capacity.

The truth is, you simply need to unclutter your mental space, remove unnecessary unproductive internal chatter, remove the baggage that has accumulated inside your mind, and then your mental capacity will increase dramatically.

Your performance would skyrocket because you would have more mental capacity that can be used more effectively.

You can literally upgrade your mind to become calmer, sharper, more focused, and increase your effectiveness at making the right choices.

Your confidence, your creativity, your ability to make the right decisions, your ability to attract the right people and manage them in the best way possible would increase dramatically, allowing you to generate bigger and more positive results.

There is one common denominator that runs across all three pillars of high performance.

Thank you Olga for sending this my way. Well written and thought provoking. Would you agree that as part of the foundation of who you are, there may be other critical elements such as character, purpose and balance that also impact an individual's mindset to perform at their highest levels?
