Three Simple Steps that Will Help You Overcome Anxiety

Dear ones in a fast-paced society that has access to a great deal of multi-sensory stimulus anxiety can be a common denominator among the populace, but we want to explain to you why anxiety is a deterrent to success and must be addressed if you desire to live a stress-free life that's filled with accomplishments instead of excuses. You must understand that anxiety, like other mind-based conditions, can be used as a reason why you're unable to achieve your dreams. Therefore, although the issue must be addressed and attended to for a happy life it must be recognized that it can be used as an excuse for why not. All disease of any kind is a by-product of dysfunction or a resistance to flow somewhere in the energetic field. So rather than give in to the disease or the condition as though you are powerless to stop it you must identify the source or the root cause and harmonize the energy flow from the original place of stagnation.

Now let us express that in actionable steps for each of you using the example of anxiety as the form of dis-ease that is being explored. We're going to share with you a three-step program for dealing with any issue that causes you anxiety. First, understand that anxiety is self-produced. Anxiety is not a reaction to what's happening currently, it's a reaction to what has happened in the past that you fear may happen again in the future. Because the mind is great at creating stories around events that happened in the past, the feared future scenarios don't have to be the same, they merely need to have some similarities so the mind can create a credible, "what if" story about the future event because anxiety will not occur when the scenario is far-fetched or fanciful. Anxiety occurs when there's a reasonable possibility, no matter how small, that this thing may happen. Anxiety is never based in reality, it's got it's roots in the past, an event that already happened, and it's creating anxiety about an event in the future that may or may not happen. The event is purely speculation and conjecture. However, because law of attraction draws to you that which you focus upon, if the past event is dwelt upon and feared on a regular basis, it's more likely to become something you experience which then adds to the anxiety you may have already been feeling. Therefore, the first step in dealing with anxiety is to be a detective. Trace the anxious feeling to its point of origin. Something that occurred in the past: a thought, an incident or a belief is triggering the anxiety your feeling at this moment. Take a moment as you breathe deeply and slowly to review the landscape of the past. Ask yourself the following questions: "When did I first become afraid of (name the current source of your anxiety)? Is this true for me or is this someone else's belief? Am I in danger from this situation right now? If so, what action can I take to correct the situation? This incident that I'm thinking of happened in the past but things are different now, am I certain this situation will happen again?"

Anxiety is based around the story of "what if," it's an open-ended dialogue that will become as big as you allow it to become. When you begin closing the loop, finishing the story and finalizing the chapter by asking yourself questions that require factual, reality-based answers the imagination gets reigned in and begins to settle down giving you the opportunity to let go of the need to be in hyper-drive over a future that may or may not happen. Use the grounding tool of deep, steady breathing and the device of certainty based questions to trip up the runaway train of the anxious mind. Once the thought process has been interrupted, it will be easier to look at what is rather than what is feared.

Second, take time daily to create a practical spiritual practice of meditation. Allow the meditative experience to be one that works best for your physical, emotional and mental bodies. If you're constantly on the move, a sitting meditation would be of maximum benefit but may be next to impossible to achieve. Rather than set yourself up for failure so you can quit, choose the form of meditation that's in harmony with your being. Sitting, walking, running, praying. Let go of the form and become results oriented. The goal of your daily meditation should be a time when you allow yourself to feel completely free and safe. Schedule your practice for the same time each day. Think of it as your escape time and get used to being in a state of non-resistance. During this time, you must allow everything to flow through you as you judge and react to nothing. You are just being for the allotted meditation time. It's like giving yourself a mini-vacation. Be sure, however, that you create a meditation schedule and stick to it. This regular practice combined with the use of deep, steady breathing will begin teaching the physical body that it's safe to relax and let go. Anxiety cannot keep a firm grip on your life when you've scheduled in regular rest periods of non-judgmental beingness.

The third way in which you can reduce and then overcome anxiety is by being present. Anxiety is not an end product of what's happening at this moment. Anxiety is about a future event that's based on a past even. When you begin letting go of the past and you cease projecting into the future, you'll be better able to react to what really is happening instead of what you may be afraid will happen sometime in the future. Anxiety is about the anticipation of what might be not about what really is. Establishing the habit of being present will do more for you than just take away anxiety over the future, it will ground you, give you stability and focus and enable you to enjoy the experiences you're participating in as they're happening; instead of being so anxious about the future that you're unable to enjoy the present. You're life and your happiness can only be found in the present moment. This moment is the only one you'll ever be able to experience. You can remember the past and you can dream or project into the future but the only time you'll ever be able to experience is now. To receive the greatest relief from anxiety you must live in this moment and let go of all other attachments. The past is over and cannot be recreated, it's been formed and lived. The future is formless and is being shaped by your thoughts, feelings and actions of the present. The quickest way to a bright tomorrow is to have a magnificent today.

Anxiety is neither healthy or inevitable. You have complete control over your mind but until you step up and take control of your thoughts, your thoughts will take control of you and anxiety may be the by-product. No one and nothing are more powerful than you are, no circumstance can defeat you, no event is insurmountable unless you decide it should be. Take charge with certainty, use the breath and be present in every moment so you can be free of anxiety.
