Ever feel like your hard work is being drowned out by the daily grind? 😕
In today’s fast-moving work environments, it can feel like the focus is always on the crisis du jour. And let’s be real—managers are just as swamped, juggling shifting priorities and doing their best to keep things on track.
With so much going on, even your most impressive wins can slip through the cracks. But here’s the thing: recognizing achievements isn’t just about feeling good—it’s essential for your growth and career advancement. Just consider this quote from Fizzah Jafri, former COO of Fixed Income Research and Economics at Morgan Stanley, who I interviewed for my book Pushback: ‘‘You’re only going to advance if you’re really competent, if people know that fact and if they like you. If two people are doing the same good work and one is better at showcasing her accomplishments, the self-promoter will win out every time." Boom!
So, how do you make sure your efforts get noticed and celebrated?
Recognizing your own success is a great start (yes, pat yourself on the back!). But, keeping it to yourself won’t move the needle. If your manager isn’t looped into your wins, you might miss out on stretch assignments, growth opportunities, and, ultimately, career advancement.
Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen! I’ve outlined 3 ways to help you communicate your success regularly—without feeling boastful.
Quick Confidence Tips to Keep Your Wins on the Radar
Keeping your achievements on your manager’s radar isn't bragging—it’s smart self-advocacy. When you consistently share your wins, the more likely it is you’ll get the recognition you deserve. Plus, doing this regularly not only strengthens your position but can also encourage others around you to celebrate their own progress.
