TI (Talman Intelligence): “Be The Tool”
A storm blew off the chimney cap. I crawled up a ladder to fix this the cap, 35 feet above the ground. When I was at the top, I had the right tool to secure a new chimney cap. 35 feet does not seem high unless you’re on a ladder.
Even for people that do not have a fear of heights, height must always be respected. Being on a ladder for any undo amount of time or scurrying up and down fetching tools increases the chance of catastrophic results.
I had the right tool that worked; I was happy with the tool.
“Be The Tool”
Information Technology professionals, including Chief Information Officers, are “tools” for business.
“Be The Tool”

Unknown to business, the IT staff would scurry to correct. Intermittent errors are more difficult to assess; the manual data update was straightforward, so the errors lingered for years.
After 10+ years, the company found the right tool to correct this intermittent failure.
Even for people that do not have a fear of changing production, manual updates to production must always be respected. These failures cause IT staff to scurry to correct and pull their attention away from their tasks. This scurrying increases the chance of catastrophic results.

Yes, I, Talman Richie, was the tool. I am the tool. My motto is…
