Tic-tac, Tic-tac if you feel like you run out of time and still doesn't have a job. Why don´t you try with new digital competences?

How many times have we heard that it is needed to have digital competences to find a good job? Is it a plus or a must have? We don´t need to say that having technological knowledge has become a competitive advantage when finding a job.

Last year, around 864.000 jobs on the ICT field weren't covered in Europe because of the lack of qualified professionals. But the most striking fact is that those profiles were not expert hackers or VR developers… Sometimes is just about profiles with a bit of knowledge in ICTs.

Regarding this fact perhaps is better to ask ourselves...

What are the most demanded skills in the job market?

Let us put you in the picture…

1. Big data

One of the most in demand future profiles will need to have knowledge on big data. New technologies and mobile devices are generating tons of information every single moment that needs to be managed. Understanding and analysis will be necessary on multiple aspects: business decisions, future predictions, solutions providing… even pandemics will be predicted with big data!

But the question that comes out is… Who is going to manage it? There is not an specific training on this concrete profile, of course there is a more scientific profile, such as mathematics, software engineers or AI (artificial intelligence) developers to analyze the data on itself but there will be also non-scientific profiles required to make the data understandable for the rest of the people so nowadays anybody can start acquiring skills regardless their background.

Who can be a potential candidate on the big data revolution? Anybody! It is not just about knowing how to code but about how to understand the digital analytic techniques. Moreover, a solid knowledge in data bases like NoSQL, business intelligence tools and Data Warehouse will be more than welcome as well as knowledge in Python coding, among others.

2. Cybersecurity

The bigger the data, the more need of protection. That's why nowadays a technological aspect with more international projection is, and what is more important for us, with more expectations on the workplace.

In Europe the need of cybersecurity profiles make us foreseen that, in the next decade around 825.000 qualified employees will be required on this sector. What skills are demanded? Perhaps, having knowledge of Internet and network architecture, protocols, web and apps security as well as Network hacking techniques, development and secure programming will help but it also depends on the specific business application.
