Time Flies When You Enjoy Your Job!

It feels like yesterday that I had a series of interviews for a position at a small, remote company in a field I had no experience in. I come from a background of administrative work, mostly in the construction industry. Pretty far-fetched connection to health insurance if you ask me. But I was referred by a good friend who has a managerial position with Guided Care, and I needed a job, so I began working on the very small Intake Team for Case Management.

Flash forward nearly two years, and Guided Care has multiplied in size and presence, our department has grown exponentially, and I was promoted in my second year with the company. My team feels like a family, even though we all work remotely. There is a genuine unity and camaraderie between all of us, that is fostered and encouraged by management. There is something special about being a mother working for a company that has more mothers in it than not, where babies are born to entry and mid-level employees, a department director, and the CEO in the same year. There is something empowering about being a woman working for a female-run company. There is something exciting about starting off in a tiny company and watching it grow to become the powerhouse it has become.

The success of Guided Care is something to watch and learn from. This company follows all the recommendations on how to succeed on all the lists we are inundated with about positive workplaces. They promote from within, they give performance-based raises and bonuses, they treat their employees with respect and honor, they value our time and reciprocate hard work with verbal and financial validation, and they provide dedicated support when any of us struggle either at work or at home. Pizza parties are a monthly thing for those who work in-office, not a replacement for a raise. Employers like Guided Care are a rarity, and that is why we can provide the tireless customer service and sincere dedication to our clients that we do. Working here isn’t begrudged – it is an opportunity to grow and serve.

As we embark on the new year, I am sincerely excited about where Guided Care will go next. I feel invested in the company because they have invested in me.
