Is it time to kickstart a new career in hospitality?

The timing is good – the travel and tourism industry is growing and becoming a key global economic driver. In fact, in the last decade, one in five of all global net jobs have been associated with this sector and recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows faster than average growth projections for several hospitality careers from 2021 to 2031.

At Hashoo Group we’ve long realised the significance of investing in human capital development. That’s why we launched the Hashoo School of Hospitality Management (HSHM) in collaboration with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) in the UK.

Our students can opt for a degree pathway/UK post-study work visas provided by CTH, with an opportunity to study abroad and gain a degree in Hospitality and Tourism – such as BSc (Hons) International Hospitality Business Management, BSc (Hons) International Hospitality Business Management (Culinary Arts), or as offered by various universities.

One of CTH’s main strengths is that it is a specialist organisation, focused solely on the global tourism and hospitality industries. This has enabled us to develop a far greater depth of working relationship with companies in our sector, providing a level of industry endorsement for our programmes that adds to their value when applying for jobs.

If the idea of a career in hospitality interests you, then its best to start with the specific area that appeals to you – such as hotel management, restaurant management, event planning, or tourism.

Do your research if you want to get ahead. Assess the current and future market demand for different specialisations and get to grips with industry trends, growth projections, and job opportunities to ensure that your chosen area offers long-term prospects.

A good option for those looking at leadership roles is Hospitality Management. This impactful role involves overseeing programs and guest experiences in hotels, resorts, and other hospitality-related facilities. These managers use managerial, budgeting, planning, communication, and project management skills to provide guests with positive experiences. They’re also responsible for ensuring efficiency and productivity. It’s one for the multi-taskers out there.

Naturally, I believe hospitality to be one of the most rewarding industries to work in. It is constantly evolving to meet changing consumer preferences and trends, meaning one can learn and adapt, keeping skills relevant and up to date. And the fast-paced nature of the hospitality industry is exciting and dynamic, keeping professionals engaged and motivated as no two days are exactly the same – I can certainly testify to that.

As workers in this field, we also tend to think and operate globally. This can be appealing for individuals who enjoy exploring new places and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Lastly, and most importantly, there’s fantastic job satisfaction. Seeing happy customers enjoying their stays or events can be incredibly rewarding and the tangible nature of hospitality allows you to directly witness the impact of your efforts. There aren’t too many careers where that’s the case.

Time to rethink your future?
