🇺🇳 Southern Voice joins the United Nations Network of Scientific Institutions
We’re thrilled to announce that Southern Voice has joined theUnited Nations Network of Scientific Institutions hosted by the Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board. The institutions in this hub represent diverse voices from all geographic, linguistic, and age groups with a particular focus on developing countries. We will be associated and collaborate with the Board to provide independent insights on trends at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, governance and sustainable development to support UN System organisations.
This news comes on the heels of our contributions at theUN Secretary-General's Senior Management Meeting.
On June 6, our Executive Director Margarita Gómez gave a presentation at the United Nations Secretary-General's Senior Management Meeting, focused on how to apply Behavioural Science to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. 🇪🇸 Southern Voice at the On Think Tanks Conference 2024
On May 21, Margarita Gómez joined a panel of speakers at a precursor event to the On Think Tanks Conference in Barcelona, Spain. The session unpacked the challenges that rapid changes in technology present to our societies and how think tanks can better respond to them.
As for the conference? Well, the Southern Voice team showed up in numbers and led a few sessions!
Our Director of Programs and Research, Estefanía Charvet, facilitated an impromptu “Unconference” session on the Post-2030 Agenda and what it could look like for think tanks.
Similarly, our Director of Global Public Affairs, Gabriela Keseberg Dávalos, co-facilitated the session “Are we facing a leadership crisis?”. Participants discussed the polycrisis and how current leadership structures in the think tank space may have failed to meet the needs of this era. This thought-provoking question sparked a lively and insightful discussion that looked for alternative models that could be adopted. Cool, right? But that’s not all!
Lastly, our Steering Committee was also in town and met to plan the next two years for the network.
Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities and news from Southern Voice!
