We caught up with Rajeev to learn about some key moments in his role to date and to better understand the upcoming 2024 land valuations being issued this month.

What does a day in the life look like for a graduate valuer?

No two days are the same – my role encompasses a wealth of variety. Given we are a regional team, we are cover large areas of the state, evaluating diverse property types. Some days are centred around office tasks - valuation roll maintenance, investigating sales data and conducting in-depth sales analysis and other days include inspecting various land regions, spanning from K’gari on the Fraser Coast to Durong in the South Burnett region.

What have been some standout or interesting moments in your journey so far?

I've had many memorable experiences. I find fulfillment in the diversity of our work - being exposed to various asset clauses in different environments and across different locations. From inspecting properties in Central Queensland, exploring K’gari, and hitting the road for trips to South Burnett – each opportunity has been unique. The opportunity to explore different parts of rural Queensland has been amazing! I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the chance to travel to such cool places, some of which I might never have explored if it weren't for my role with the department.

As you prepare for the 2024 land valuations to be issued this month, what specific tasks have you been working on?

I have been assisting with client valuation projects for the Queensland Department of Education . It has been interesting to understand the wide variety of works undertaken by the team and to gain a deeper understanding of the role of annual valuations on the Queensland economy.
