Together for a Healthier Future: The Power of Collective Action in the #DriveToZero Campaign

Every company has a role to play in community building. While every contribution matters, tackling larger challenges—like breast cancer—requires more than individual effort. It’s a long-term commitment that demands collaboration and a shared vision. That’s exactly what we’ve seen with the #DriveToZero campaign: a powerful example of how businesses, organizations, and individuals can come together to drive meaningful change.

 

Breast cancer is one of the most significant health concerns for women worldwide. Yet, there is hope. When detected early, breast cancer has a survival rate of 98%. This statistic gives us a glimpse of the transformative power of early intervention and awareness. However, despite the progress in detection and treatment, the reality remains: 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.


This statistic led to the birth of the #DriveToZero campaign. While one in eight is a significant number, our goal is clear: Zero. Ultimately, Zero reasons why early detection and prevention shouldn't be top priorities for everyone.


The Vision: From Awareness to Action

The #DriveToZero campaign's long-term vision is to foster a culture of breast cancer awareness and prevention that continues to grow and inspire action. At Arabian Automobiles, we believe that by prioritizing education, early detection, and preventative measures, we can collectively drive down breast cancer rates and increase survival outcomes.

 

However, the path to this ambitious goal is not without its challenges. While we aim for zero, we must take actionable steps to raise awareness and inspire change in the present. For now, our mission is clear: Raise awareness, and encourage action.

  • Awareness: 1 in 8 women will still develop breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • Action: Participate in at least one of the eight accessible activities designed to drive change and push us closer to the goal of beating breast cancer.

 

The Plan: Collective Action and Community Engagement

At the heart of the #DriveToZero campaign is collective action. By collaborating with a variety of brands, organizations, and influencers, we’ve been able to pool resources, share expertise, and reach a wider audience. With the support of our medical partner, Dubai London Hospital , we identified eight key activities designed to engage and educate the community, while offering tangible ways for people to get involved.

 

  1. Listen and Learn. We partnered with the Kris Fade Show and Maz Hakim , alongside breast cancer warriors like Lauren O’Connell , to amplify the message of early detection. The Maz Hakim Podcast was instrumental in raising awareness, with inspiring stories and practical advice on breast cancer prevention.
  2. Spread Awareness. Leveraging the viral power of Lovin Dubai , we encouraged the community to wear pink and start conversations about breast cancer in schools, workplaces, and at home. Our custom #DriveToZero logo was prominently displayed on three Arabian Automobile cars, which drove through Dubai and the Northern Emirates to increase visibility.
  3. Get Checked. Awareness is only effective when paired with action. We provided free clinical breast exams at Dubai London Hospital, with 1 in 8 registrants receiving a free pick-up and drop-off service in our #DriveToZero-wrapped cars.

4. Get a Mammogram. Early detection saves lives. We encouraged women over 40 to schedule their routine mammograms, and offered free mammograms to women with vehicles that had driven over 40,000 km by sharing a picture of their odometer.

5. Eat Well. Nutrition plays a crucial role in cancer prevention. In partnership with Thermomix Middle East , we hosted cooking classes featuring cancer-fighting recipes and hosted nutritionists from Dubai London Hospital to explain how diet can help reduce cancer risk.

6. Pause. Yoga and meditation are powerful tools for mental and physical well-being. We partnered with lululemon to offer free breathwork, movement, and meditation classes aimed at reducing stress and improving overall health.


7. Sleep. Good sleep habits are often overlooked but play a significant role in reducing cancer risk. We worked with Dubai London Hospital’s sleep expert to share insights on how sleep can be optimized for better health outcomes.

8. Get Active. Physical activity is one of the most effective ways to reduce cancer risk. With Wellfit , we launched free fitness classes for all levels, and continued our fitness journey through Dubai 30x30, encouraging long-term commitment to health and fitness. The activation was met with an enthusiastic response, particularly from an unexpected group — 10 children who eagerly participated. This turnout underscored the importance of engaging younger generation in health-focused initiatives.

 

“#DriveToZero truly resonated with me. I love that every October this city turns pink. Beyond that, this campaign taught me that meaningful action comes from small steps daily for a healthier lifestyle. When I looked at the eight commitments to get there, I’m reminded of how simple it is to take care of my body. Pausing, sleeping, eating well, and getting active are some of the things that I take for granted because of how busy life gets. I finally signed up, for the first time ever, in a fitness class and I’m so grateful I did,” says Ruth Dedel, a participant at Wellfit’s session. 

 

The Results: A Campaign That Resonated

The #DriveToZero campaign made a significant impact. Here are some of the highlights of our collective success:

  • Over 12,000 interactions on drivenforward.ae through event registrations, clicks, and active participation.
  • Reached over 1.9 million listeners weekly through Virgin Radio’s Kris Fade Show and Maz Hakim Show.
  • Nearly 10,000 views of the impactful interview between Maz Hakim and Lauren O’Connell (breast cancer warrior) on social media.
  • Engaged over 1.3 million people through Lovin Dubai.
  • Delivered over 120 free clinical breast exams and mammograms.
  • Generated an estimated USD 173,855 in PR value, with more expected as the campaign continues to gain momentum.
  • Reached over 3,000 employees through internal communications and partnerships.
  • We also had the privilege of working with influential figures like Arabian Gazelles, Aya Zidan, Tala Samman, Hiba Ahmadi, and Anna Khan to spread the message further.

The Road Ahead: Keep Driving Toward Zero

While we’ve made tremendous strides in raising awareness and encouraging action, the journey to beating breast cancer is ongoing. The #DriveToZero has just started. We hope that our goals for now to spark conversations and instill a commitment to a more informed and healthier lifestyle would resonate beyond October.
