Imagine, If you would like to open a bank account or another financial product for yourself or perhaps for your children and you have the choice between a digital option or an on-site visit to the bank branch, how would you decide? 🤷🤔
Most of us including me would likely choose the #digital option. Because it's significantly faster, less complicated, location-independent and almost incidentally meets all the regulatory requirements that a bank and a Trust Service must fulfill. These are all advantages that we have come to appreciate in recent years. And following the fact that we, as customers, have become important drivers of #digitization, they are evident to implement in the financial industry:
Digital solutions are now not only demanded, but rather assumed. Looking at the customer base, for instance, they have listed almost every citizen with their financial product per se:
At the latest, when they turn 18, they open their first salary account or order their first credit card. Consequently, digitization must be an essential to financial institutions’ strategy to withstand the ever-increasing competitive pressure. 🔝🌐
But are banking institutions as digital as requested by their customers so far?
According to the "Digital Banking Maturity Study 2022" by Deloitte , this is unfortunately not the case across the board:
In Germany, they are only in the middle of the pack and need to elaborate significant improvements to keep up with the global competition. Many financial institutions, for example, still do not offer the option of opening accounts online. Following the fact that this option is simply demanded these days, this would at least be a first step towards addressing current customer needs. Digital and efficient solutions already exist for unique identification and for other customer services, which help banking institutions provide important services in their customers’ interest.
