Top 10 Mac Shortcut Keys
Keyboard shortcuts are not limited to Windows. Mac OS has its selection, and here are my top ten!
Lock Device - Control + Command + Q
Instantly lock your device. Handy when working in a public space.
Show Display Settings - Option + Brightness Up Key.
Access the display settings in System Preferences quickly when using a projector or TV.
Accessibility Shortcuts - Option + Command + F5
Open the accessibility shorts cuts; you can now choose Vision, Motor and Hearing options.
Force Quit Apps - Option + Command + ESC
When an app is not working, use this to close it completely. You can then open the app again. Handy for times when an app update has failed.
Spotlight Search - Command + SpaceBar
Search your Mac quickly using Spotlight.
Move through open apps - Command + TAB.
Quickly move through open apps without having to minimise any windows.
Force Restart - Control + Command + Power Button
Restart the Mac without any prompt to close open apps. Helpful if everything has gone unresponsive.
Cut - Command + X
Cut the item and place it on the clipboard.
Emoji - Control + Command + SpaceBar
Open the emoji and character picker.
Preview File - Spacebar when a file is highlighted in Finder
Pops out a preview of any file you have selected in Finder. For example, seeing if it is the right PDF you want is convenient.
